Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligent processes such as vision, speech, learning and decision making among others, by computing machines.
AI machines could be stand-alone computing machines or computing machines that are embedded on equipment, electronics and other gadgets we use in our day to day lives. Examples cars, robots, medical equipment, watch among others.
Human intelligence processes” that are artificially modeled are the artificial intelligence . These include:
1) Learning or acquisition of information. This means that AI systems can learn just like human beings do.
2) Reasoning or using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions. AI systems can make decisions just like human being do.
3) Self-correction or learning from past mistakes. AI systems can correct their mistakes and they can also learn from past experiences just like human do.
In summary Artificial Intelligence is the imitation of human intelligence process in machines. In this case, human intelligence is the natural intelligence while machine intelligence is the artificial intelligence hence the term Artificial Intelligence.
