Did the original English migrate from India ? And from where came the Scottish ? Somebody please tell me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
Old English is kind of difficult to understand but could totally be deciphered. Middle English really just sounds like mispronounced modern English for the most part some of the words did get completely changed with other words but the majority of the words are just goofy versions of what we already speak and are actually pretty easy to understand
You forgot about the part where Web 2.0 was invented and ignorant tweenagers started degrading the language into chaos. Like "I" and "me" trading places, "may" and "might" trading places, widespread misuse of random words that sound sophisticated (e.g. "thwart" for "fraught", "expectation" for "exception", "intrepid" for "dangerous", "extreme" for "spectrum", "God-forsaken " for "God-given", "gunning for you" for "rooting for you", and many more), mangling of expressions involving "and", "or", "either", or "both", "sunk" replacing "sank" (which sounds funny), "began" for "begun" (which sounds intellectual), gratuitous use of pretentious or archaic words (e.g "subsequent(ly)" for "later", "glean" for "receive", "wherein" for "in which", and "whereby" for "by which) (and "whereby" is increasingly used when "wherein" is correct)), and ignorant forms like "different than" (suggests comparison) replacing "different from" (only contrast). And plenty more. 🙄
The problem with english is that its the fastest evolving language im an arab and WE arabs understand poems from 1500 years without nedding an expert
American accents are not similar to Shakespearean accents, I mean basically there are plenty of British accents that sound more Shakespearean than American accents.
Keep up the good work
Im going back to old english. I can’t sleep at night knowing the language i speak was influenced by a french dialect.
American dialect being closer to Shakespearean enlgish is actually a urban myth
You think Estonian is part of the indo-european language? Minge perse.
Love the video learnt so much I didn't know, it would have been even better if you had used the real World map 🗺️ 🌎 🌏 🌍.
Engels is afkomstig van de Friese taal
If you want to learn "the unknown origins of the English language", be my guest this Friday at 21:30 and follow the series you will be surprised, indeed!
All academic staff of the linguistics departments of Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, Cambridge and Oxford universities are already informed and invited to the show. Who knows which of them would be there? But anyway, I will scientifically prove there is no "language" called ENGLISH. This is nothing but a terribly corrupted version or a far distant dialect of TURKISH!
"Part 2: The AWAKENING: You are living on someone else's WORDS, you are living in someone else's WORLD!"

In a few hundred years our language will be foreign to future English speakers? I can't understand Gen Z and I'm from that generation! Try a few hundred months.

India
Who suddenly decided to create The Great Vowel Shift? How does an entire society wake up 1 day and say, "we will now pronounce 'oo' as 'oh'?" How does that function?
Good to know American pronunciation is closer to Shakespeare than modern Nigel english. Bri'ish pronunciation is trash.
A very understandable and informative piece.
41% of English words come from French, to recognize it you just have to check in any dictionary that mentions the etymology of each word to realize that it is true. This is due to William the Conqueror whom the English affectionately call William the Bastard. And also know that Queen Elizabeth II is from the Windsor dynasty and Windsor Castle was built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror who ensured that French was spoken for over 500 years in England. And thus ensure that 50% of English words come from the French language.
Watch this video to convince yourself.
“41% of the ENGLISH LANGUAGE is FRENCH. How did this happen? »
And the English vocabulary contains only a hundred words coming from German.
