MBR vs GPT // 2 WAYS to CONVERT MBR DISK TO GPT // MBR is an old and outdated standard for organizing file systems on your hard drives or solid-state drives. It has been introduced a long time ago when the maximum capacity of HDD was measured in Megabytes. It only supports 32-bit operating systems such as Windows XP 32-bit and older.

So why is it still out there and which one should you use?? Well, if you still use an older Operating System and have less then 2 TB of storage then it doesn’t really matter. But if you have a newer operating system such as Windows 7, 8, or 10 and less than 2 TB of storage then you might want to convert your drives to a newer GPT disk partition standard.

In this video we will cover 2 methods of converting MBR to GPT:

The first ONE, we will be using Acronis Disk Director software in Windows Environment, in case you have an operating system installed already.
Method #1 5:46

The second ONE, we will be creating an Acronis Disk Director Bootable Media USB to be able to run this partition software on the PC that has no Operating System installed yet.
Method #2 6:45

Hope this will help you figure out what partition standard to go with and how to convert one to another.
