Can we eclipse the capabilities of language and their inherent cultural affiliations to break the seemingly existent barriers that have been recently constructed between the East and the West? This talk focuses on the global impact of language, and specifically Arabic. With all the scientifically-proven and socially-driven benefits of languages, Meher argues that we can establish unlimited, universal impacts to resolve peace.
Meher Khatwani is a junior at the American School of Dubai. She is originally from India but has lived in Dubai all her life. Living in the United Arab Emirates has allowed her to interact with people from all over the world with different cultures and ideas. This sparked her interest and passion for foreign language and literature. Meher speaks Hindi and English at home and learns Arabic and Spanish at school. She is fascinated by foreign language and hopes to further her studies by learning French and Russian. As the President of the World Languages Club at ASD, Meher hopes to deliver the numerous positive effects of language acquisition on the individual and society.
