On September 3, 2013, The Children’s Arts Guild and Grace Church School co-hosted a special presentation by Dr. Adam Cox, noted expert on the emotional and cognitive development of school-age children.
Drawing on his books “Boys of Few Words: Raising Our Sons to Communicate and Connect and On Purpose Before Twenty,” Dr. Cox discussed the challenges so many boys face in becoming effective communicators and full participants in 21st century life.
Dr. Cox addressed how boys develop a sense of purpose and significance in their lives, reviewing the highlights of a recently completed, two-year global study sponsored by the International Boys’ Schools Coalition. He shared what students had to say about their lives, what they need and want from parents, and how they understand the value of education. This study provides unparalleled insight into the developmental, educational, and spiritual needs of boys.
