For a video titled "Jews, Genes, and Intelligence," I was expecting some solid evidence for a genetic basis of superior Ashkenazi Jewish intelligence (for which there are several very plausible hypotheses, not the least of which being artificial selection through mass murders of possibly disproportionately the "non-elite" members of the population).     This is an interesting video expounding on the many hypotheses (most of which are not genetic). However, it is, for example, one thing to hypothesize on why Jewish Americans are smarter than Japanese Americans, Lebanese Americans are smarter than Jewish Americans, and Indian Americans are smarter than Lebanese Americans (despite Indians in general being on the lower end of the intelligence spectrum), but quite another to show evidence for those differences having genetic bases.

29. Two things stand out about this talks by Pinker. First, he has no fears talking about Jewish genetic IQ superiority over Whites. Imagine if this was a major scholar talking about White superiority over Blacks, or Jewish superiority of Blacks, which Pinker avoids, but instead targets Whites. Second, why are non-Whites, including Jews, always affirming their pride inside White created countries? Why have Whites created the best countries, and why Jewish achievement occurred inside White countries? Jews only obtained a country through the benevolence of Whites who assisted them in creating Israel, otherwise they are inept in nation building, and never created a glorious empire like the Romans, Spaniards, English.

30. I like Pinker but do not agree on his theory on intelligence as genetically determined. The IQ of a baby is determined at birth. Hence the reason why twins separated at birth still have the same level of intelligence even after growing up in different environments. Human intelligence is determined in the wombs of expectant mothers. Basically it comes down to the health, diet, environment and life style choices of those expectant mothers that determine the IQ of their babies. Of course, genetics play a part, but in a very limited extent. It could also be cultural as certain cultures frown upon harmful life style activities such as smoking and drinking by pregnant mothers more than other cultures. A woman expecting in a cohesive and conservative culture such as Jewish culture is less likely to do harm to her baby's intelligence by alcoholism, drug abuse, junk diet and smoking etc. This is one reason why we have intelligent whites, as well as stupid whites, intelligent Asians as well as stupid Asians and intelligent blacks as well as stupid blacks. It is more of a class thing than racial or gemetical. Then, it goes without saying that a wealthy and stable society will produce babies with higher average intelligence than a poorer and chaotic one, for the simple reason that expectant mothers in the former have better access to good fresh wholesome food, education and relevant information. Pinker's separated twin theory is overly simplistic and overlooks this more common sensical factor. The last time I checked the average IQ of nations, Israel wasn't anywhere near the top. The top, in fact, was South Korea, which is a whole new story altogether.

Concerning genetic enhancement, Pinker speaks whereof he does not know.  Even 10 years ago it was clear that embryo selection with genetic information to inform it, would soon be possible.  Also, the notion that IQ genes will mostly have deleterious side effects is baseless–in fact, people with higher IQ are healthier on average than those with lower IQ.  Cochran, coauthor of the paper that prompted this talk, certainly knew all these facts and Pinker talked to him.  Did Pinker choose to lie about these issues for some reason?  It's notable that the theory of the CCH paper, which Pinker correctly called "highly testable", has not been tested.  If it really were "good for the Jews" as Pinker claims, it would by now have been tested.  The paper was published in 2005.  Its hypotheses are easy to test with current genetic knowledge and cheap genetic tests.

With all due respect Mr. Pinker, you did not mention Hypothesis #8: The Jewish people test higher in IQ and have greater representation in advanced positions of influence in society because they are God’s chosen and precious people.
