Looking at the AIC's website I see no credit given to Lichtenstein's "original sources," not the pencil sketches he produced, but the primarily comic book artists whose original compositions he copied and who continue to get no credit. I don't begrudge him his success and clearly he added something new and worthwhile – but a retrospective that ignores the artists Lichtenstein copied is merely continuing to unjustly hold the veil over those unsung heroes. I hope my impression is mistaken.
