The narration in this little film is excerpted from Professor Daniel Dennett’s new book, Intuition Pumps and Other Tools for Thinking, which provides a clever connection between a magician’s sleight of hand card tricks (based on probability) and Darwin’s notion of evolution by natural selection. Part of an evolution series.

You recall the class you were teaching and I showed up unannounced and sat at the back. You didn`t know I was coming. Then you began “There was an actor in the last century by the name of Errol Flynn who wrote a book called My Wicked Wicked Ways.“ When I stood up, you had a bewildered look on your face. I reached in my backpack and pulled out a copy of Wicked Wicked Ways then pulled out a box from under my desk which had Errol`s life casting, How did it happen Coincidence or timing, I wonder!
I cannot tell if this analogy is trying to discredit evolution or is simply trying to put it into context. Because yes, what dennett says about evolution is true, and that is exactly why the theory stands today.
Putting simply and accurately. None of your ancestors is extinct, because you are alive.
Intuition pump. It is a new word combination for me. I will adjust the controls to see how it works every time I recognize one. Thanks
One of the biggest problems with the neo-Darwinian theory Dennett unwittingly outlines. The many, many mistakes generated by random mutation are invisible even in the fossil records. Because they never happened, that´s why. Because neo-Darwinism is untrue.
Evolution is contending very strongly, along with Islam, for the title of The Greatest Lie Ever Foisted on the Human Race.
