The interpretation of stimuli is never the stimuli interpreted. The true function of the brain is to point to, not interpret, stimuli.

There's no such thing as a selfless act. All acts are in aid of reaching a personal goal, and thereby one is acting out of perceived self interest. Even the most altruistic act is done because we want to. If we didn't want to we wouldn't. Thus, we gain from altruism, even if its just feeling good about ourselves. We feel it's the right thing to do. Not doing it often makes us feel bad about ourselves. We don't want that. So all acts are of self interest.
It's not a bad thing. It's just the way the brain works.

I am quite disappointed. I honestly thought he was going to speak on how the MIND works, not the brain. I hope in the many years since this talk he has finally learned the difference.
