During Google’s IO 2018 developer conference, CEO Sundar Pichai showed off a demo for Google Duplex, an AI assistant that can call and book appointments on your behalf. Google will roll out the system in the summer. Initially, the duplex assistant will be restricted to a narrow range of simple tasks like booking appointments.

What would be super cool is for google assistant to not only identify itself as an AI so the person is able to assess data in context, but also to allow it to change language to suit the person taking the booking. The example with the restaurant suggests a non-native English speaker, as such the AI will hopefully be able to ask "In what language do you feel most comfortable?" At which point it switches to best suit the human experience.
I would much much rather call them myself.
no one else picturing the life like super AI that will scam you and it will make the scam so legit you wont even know
this is terrifying
errrrm.. that is great no question about it, but are we not already an isolated society enough where human transaction is already at a low? again, no haters please, this IS a great feature and there can be countless applications to it, just thinking do we really dislike talking to each other so much. 🙂
It handled the restaurant much better than I would've. That exchange would've totally made me crash.
This is the future of cold calling, never gets emotional and can read a script just as well as the vast majority of cold callers out there
what could possibly go wrong? Has nobody thought of the spam calls and con artist calls that this is going to make possible? Imagine how this could be usd to cold call people and rip them off with zero guilt or remorse.
There is a very long list of ethical problems that must be addressed before AI like this is rolled out. ¨Because we can¨ is not a good enough reason, it has to include safeguards that prevent it being used to evsedrop / spy on users personal information and it has to be secure in a way that it cannot be used to do harm.
I´m not touching any google AI until I am satisfied that they are not leading us all towards some kind of AI apocalypse.
What's the point of including "uh" and "um" in the scripts of the AI??? Not everyone says those words to take up space/time in conversation.
I hope this doesn’t go the way of the Microsoft AI twitter account ?
Google went too far with this.
Prank calls are just going to get better and better
…because developers are natural introverts who always work on inventing their way out of awkwardness? buuut, it's coming regardless of rants… :/
There should be A.I for replying every comment posted here on youtube because if it can understand what us folks are commenting and can reply accordingly that would be the smartest A.I.
This is great.. Bring it on
This video is so fake; if you don't belive me go google "axios ask question to google" or something like that;
Hi Mandar, my company is currently producing a documentary movie on AI. Would you know who had the license rights to the video of Google´s presentation of Google Duplex? Best, Uri
They haven't even managed to master the auto generated captions on YouTube yet… ?
big shaq out here at 2:10
Actually, my Google Assistant can't do that call. I tried exactly what he said to the phone, and mine just showed me result of searching my words on internet ?
