Let us say that an evolutionary quirk occurred in the development of the animal brain, so that the sexual orgasm became a kind of neurological trigger- that the sexual instinct was in competition for control so to speak with this newer formation [paleo-mammalian limbic cortex]. What occurred was a kind of biological compromise emphasizing an expanded use of portions of the brain or shifting it into a more limited use of those portions.
