Based on scriptural authority, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said that anyone conversant in the science of Krishna Consciousness is eligible to become a Guru, regardless of his social position and the family in which he is born. On similar lines, Chanakya Pandita also said that one should accept knowledge even from a low-born person like accepting gold even from a filthy place.
