Born in 1951, Susan Blackmore is a British freelance writer, lecturer and broadcaster. Having graduated from St Hilda’s College, Oxford with a degree in psychology and physiology, she went on to do postgraduate work in environmental psychology. In 1980, she gained a PhD in parapsychology. Her research on memes (which she wrote about in her popular book The Meme Machine) and evolutionary theory has contributed to the field of memetics.
