TEDx Talks
Deep learning is a technology that attempts to mimic the activity in layers of neurons in the brain neocortex, the wrinkly 80 percent of the brain where thinking occurs. The advent of this technology has moved artificial intelligence (AI) well beyond science fiction into many successful and practical applications. Artificial intelligence is finally getting smart. Machines getting the better of humans is no longer a surprise. Can deep learning revolutionize Artificial Intelligence? After human evolution stages from Hunter to Agrarian to Industrial to Services oriented society, does AI brings the next revolution? There is going to be a Tectonic shift in everything we do, mostly driven by AI. Does it mean that humans will be jobless and machines will take over like a scene out of a Hollywood science fiction movie? Hesham Eraqi received the Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering in 2010, and the
Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering in 2014 from Cairo University, with
Excellent grade. He is currently a PhD fellow candidate with Highest Honors and highest GPA
in class, Teaching and Research Assistant at the American University in Cairo, and has been
Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Design Leader at Valeo. He is conducting industrial research
focused on Autonomous Vehicles and Active Safety. Besides his two filed patents from
Germany, Hesham’s peer-reviewed publications, including international conference papers
and book chapters, are mainly in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Machine Learning. He has a
variety of own-developed projects, including the awards-winning “Arabot” robot. He is an
active technical web blogger (heraqi.blogspot.com). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
