Advertisement for the Minute Maid offshoot drink Fruitopia. The name a blend of the words Fruit and Utopia a not to subtle suggestion that the brand was a drink that would elevate consciousness, inspired peace and tranquility. To help cement that fact the flavors were named such things like Strawberry Passion Awareness, The Grape Beyond, Tangerine Wavelength, Citrus Excursion, and Fruit Integration. This was all supposed to appeal to the GenX crowd that was part of the 1990’s but it’s trancendental nature fell flat and by 2003 the brand was discontinued in the US.

I saw this commercial on the big screen before a movie in 1994 and it changed my life
Sugar water.
I loved these commercials as a child, enjoyed the beverage as well. I'm very happy to have lived through the early to mid 90s.
I always wanted to look these commercials up but kept forgetting. Back when they were on TV I was awestruck whenever I saw one. But never caught any on tape or got to see them nearly as much as I wanted.
They've always been one of the most memorable things from a very memorable time in my life. When I had just moved to Broward County and things seem new and fresh. Good times back in Summer 94.
However as much as I enjoyed finally getting to see them again, watching them now with that piano music playing, I can't help but feel sad for a bygone time. But I'm really sentimental like that.
I can't see this commercial without thinking of a joke from "The Simpsons"…
"And to cool off, nothing beats Fruitopia! The iced tea brewed by hippies, but distributed by a heartless, multi-national corporation!"
You can still get Fruitopia from the fountains at fast food places like McDonald’s or Subway. I like to mix a splash of it with other soft drinks, just to give it a taste of orange. Or Orange Awareness, I suppose
Orphan Black has such good opening credits!
I like to think of the 90s as the retroactive 1960s social issues with a touch of emerging internet technology; this commercial was cool too.
