The World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 has revealed many of the secrets regarding the Warcraft universe. From it’s creation, to the rise and fall of civilizations. Light and Void eternally bound in conflict. In this video we dive into the origin of the cosmos, I hope you’ll enjoy!
“‘I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers’ flames. Their denizens fading without so much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and razed in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart, devoid of emotion… of empathy. I… have… felt… NOTHING! A million, million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do? Perhaps it is your imperfection that which grants you free will. That allows you to persevere against all cosmically calculated odds. You prevailed where the Titans’ own perfect creations have failed.'”

Are you dutch :D?
Sargeras: oh no it’s too late, these worlds may look fine now, but they will all be infected by the old Gods from the void and become Void Titans.
Aman’thul: what!?
Sargeras: This entire universe must be purged!
Aman’thul: How could you even consider that, there’s got to be some other way!
Sargeras: dammit Aman’thul, as champion of the Titans I order you to purge this universe.
Aman’thul: you are not the head of the pantheon yet boy, and even if you were I would not follow that order!
Sargeras: I see, then I can only see this as treason.
Aman’thul: Treason?! Have you lost your mind Sargeras?!
Sargeras: have I?! Aman’thul by my right as champion of the Titans I dismiss you and all your Titans immediately.
Aggramar: Sargeras you can’t just-
Sargeras: it’s done! Those of you with the will to protect this universe stay, the rest get out of my sight!
Aman’thul: you just crossed a terrible threshold Sargeras.
Sargeras: Aggramar?
Aggramar: I’m sorry Sargeras, I can’t watch you do this.
let the story begin for me .cong! pal thats a great work
If you miss ten seconds you have to rewind
I think anyone else who's ground out the Dalaran Fountain coin achievements can agree that Rhonin's speech loses some of its beauty when you hear it every 10 minutes
Am I the only one that thinks sargeras's backstory to be more sympathetic than arthas's
I just started playing Warcraft and find the story so jumbled and confusing. Hoping I can watch as many videos about the lore as I can do I can understand the story and universe as I know it’s one of a kind. 😉
I just dont get it the same team that wrote Citizens of dalaran(for all its memeing its a great speech) is writing this incoherent stylistically bland and pointless dribble… the problem with wow is that they lost focus of the themes that made it epic… and dunno most lore post like Mop has been kind of MEH, with a few gems here and there in terms of individual arcs.
Right of the bat i thought he was saying the biblical portion of Genesis chapter
noone:
this guy: rrrrrr
woooahh :O
I like your videos – But for for me, who doesnt speak that well english, you are using really hard phares that is hard to understand 🙁
Who's watching this before Shadowlands
the void can corrupt full grown titans, unless you would say sargeras wasnt corrupted. I donno food for thought. I love your videos Nobbel <3
The first chapter of the playlist. Here we go!
Wait, so the Titans happily purge a planet if it becomes corrupted, but when Sargeras wants to do the same with the corrupted universe (with the same hopes: That new life emerges) it's suddenly a bad thing?
Universe Creation 101: Never lock up the bad guys in a prison world/dimension. I don't think that's ever worked in any fictional universe ever.
It’s fairly hypocritical for the pantheon to admonish Sargeras for his actions after destroying the world soul, lecturing him on their sworn duty to protect life— given how quick they were to ‘cleanse’ worlds of life should they fall to ‘disorder’. This was also prior to their discovery of the old gods.
This is THE BEST Warcraft origin story I've found.
The thing about the doom guards and nepherziem(spelling) weren’t originally demons, like the eredar they were corrupted by the fel I forget which book explained it, so the cannon question sounds like it is still cannon
wow. I am fascinated by creation stories. I am familiar with the biblical and Greek ones. It is interesting to see what fantasy lore does with this. I wrote my own creation story once. It was a lot of fun. I could get so creative. The WoW version is very interesting. I like how the faction system work. Lor od the Rings has the factions polarized into a good side and evil side. It has been done to death. WoW takes a more nuanced approach. The Alliance and Horde are opposing factions. They may look good and evil respectively at first glance. However they are actually morally gray. Their are evil factions like the Burning legion an the Scourge. When push comes to shove, sometimes the Allience and the Horde form a truce together. Then they can team up and fight the evil faction. So they do become good despite the moral flaws. Game of Thrones takes it even further. The main focus of the story is about a bunch of morally gray factions, the noble houses, fighting over control and the iron throne. An evil faction is nearly nonexistant. The closest thing to an evil faction is the White Walkers. However they were formed from a good cause, and they got out of hand. They were sopposed to defend the natives from invasion, but they end up killing all life. The one good thing the White Walkers do is make a big hole in the wall. This allows the local people to move around more freely. I think that more freedom is a good thing. There are also the Bolton House. I am not sure about those guys. They seem so evil in the TV show. Later I learned that there was a lot of changes from the book. I would like to learn more about this house by reading books. There may be more nuance. The WoW creation story is like the regular story but on a much bigger scale. It is as above so below. The various titans are neutral to good. They are like the Alliance and the Horde. They are also like the moral neutral deities of Greek mythology. Everybody rules over specialized areas of nature or humanity. The void lords are evil. I am impressed that WoW somehow managed to fit in Lovcraftian elrich abominations. The void lords and old gods is interesting. It would be nice if they were fleshed out more. An expansion about fighting them would be awesome. Maybe these guys can gain nuance. There is a fight between the good titans and the bad void lords. They are like the Alliance and Horde going against evil factions. It is like how the Christian Bible has the good God and the evil Satan. It is interesting how the gray Greek aproach and the polarized Christian approach can be mixed together. It is very rich and fascinating. One interesting character is Sargaras. He does the same thing that Arthas does. As villains go, I am rather fond of Arthas. He is a rare case of the Dark Lord done right. The Scourge attacks and turns people to zombies. Arthas was once a noble paladin. He tried his best to fight against the Scouge. However he went zeolous and overboard. Arthas killed many innocent people in attempt to stop the Scourge curruption. Then he killed his father. Finally Arthas was totally corrupted by the Scourge with a cursed sword. He changed to a death knight. He became the Lich King. Sargarus does something similar. He fights the void lords. Then he kills innocents to stop void corruption. Then he becomes currupt himself. Sargaras is a lot like Satan. He was a good holy person who changed to being evil. He also has a bunch of demons, darkness and hellfire. Satan is usually depicted as a purly evil guy. However in rare cases there is a little bit of good. I find that mains Satan more compelling as a victim. One is a Muslim version where Satan loves God so much, that he refused to obey God's orders to bow to Adam. Another is the Paradise Lost version where Satan freed the fallen angels from the tyranny of God. In WOW, a Satan like character fights other bad guys and then becomes currupted. That is an intereting idea. Hopefully the voidlords will gain thier own nuance somehow.

Lol
This shit is dope
just came back to recap as it has been a few years since I left WoW and man I still need to find the books
I appreciate your videos. Truly hardwork
I appreciate all of your videos, truly hardwork!
Thanks for not going off on a tirade about how evil the Light is (because he secretly hates Christianity) (you know who you are) and going against the written lore to get views.
To everyone complimenting Nobbel's storytelling, he is reading all of this straight out of the book. This is not his own storytelling it is Blizzard's. All he does is add some pictures.
CITIZENS OF DALARAN!!!
Anyone watching in 2018?
So basically…. we could technically be a planet in this Universe
Nobbel is the VaatiVidya of WoW, and VaatiVidya is the Nobbel of Dark Souls.
Dawg i love listening to your lores, Great Job On the Voice Change Tone To Fit the lore speech, (Sorry I suck at English xD)
Wait. That's ancient aliens stuff. Blown = my mind
Of all the world's mythologies, I've just realised that the giants of old Chinese mythology most closely resemble WarCraft's Titans and titan-forged in stature and function.
examples:
– Pangu was a planet-sized giant responsible for creating this world. (and by "planet-sized" I mean the ancient texts really implied him to be about 15000 km tall when full-grown. For comparison the diameter of the Earth is about 12000km. )
– Juling (literally "giant spirit") was a giant sent by Heaven to split a mountain so that it would not obstruct the flow of the Yellow River.
– Another giant couple (each more than 400km tall) was sent to clear some more rivers, but they got lazy so Heaven punished them to stand naked until the Yellow River becomes clear.
– The Thunder God was also a giant whose footprint caused a woman to become pregnant after she stepped into it (don't ask me how that works, haha) and later give birth to two important demigods.
Those were the giant gods, responsible for shaping the world.
Then there were a few other races of giants, for example:
– in the Eastern Sea there was an island kingdom, Longbo, inhabited by giants, so tall that they could walk across a sea. One day one of them went fishing and ended up killing a few giant turtles responsible for carrying a few floating (and inhabited) islands, causing some of these islands to drift off, crash or sink. As punishment, Heaven drastically reduced the Longbo giants' territory and also shrank their bodies (to about 30 metres tall, still giant compared to humans).
– Wanqu, another kingdom of giants (each about 23 metres tall) was said to have advanced technology (including flying submarines) and to have witnessed the creation and prehistory of the world. (this is a possible case of Ancient Astronauts)
Although these giants were not explicitly described as shaping or protecting the world, the legends give the impression that they were present in the world for a purpose.
Of course, besides the above, there were other legends about giants of even less cosmic significance, some benevolent, some savage.
(Some were clearly just human tribes of slightly extraordinary stature.)
