AI Literacy, or Why Understanding AI Will Help You Every Day | Jordan Harrod | TEDxBeaconStreet

TEDx Talks

As artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into our lives and our decision-making processes, many people do not understand where AI is regularly being used, or how it might impact their lives. Just as computer literacy allowed the public to engage with society through modern technology, AI literacy is becoming increasingly necessary to engage with the AI systems that permeate our personal and professional lives. In this TEDx talk, a PhD student and AI YouTuber will discuss why AI literacy is the next wave of technological literacy, and how you can get ahead of the AI curve.
I’m a Ph.D. student in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics at the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program. My research focuses on deep learning and neurotechnology for brain stimulation and control systems. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

  1. this is very opportune. lol something to improve. is it? i am awful at writing emails. i do like to draw all happily, sadly. how ever it comes. formal-ities are not my thing i could say. maybe? maybe i can not have your job or your phd teacher? maybe it will be a new challenge for your teacher and anything can be okay, not very harmful or inappropriate? always when she speak English i am not speaking Spanish with somebody that only know ones language. correct? that can be very disruptive/ demanding. maybe? anyway. let me see if i can learn you and i become graciously a better thing one day. i cant truly promise many things. one of my weakness lol maybe that is another thing i must learn from you. is it? so i will be perfect with your help lol

  2. AI does not exist yet, every coder knows this. AI is code that can be self aware and create new things not programmed to it. We seem to be getting close though, and we do have 'smart' tech. If AI did exist, it would be applied to quantum processing by the military ASAP to obtain cyber domination by whichever country cracked it.

  3. I learned the process thru business and english classes and am confident my skill set more than prepared me for keyboard literacy. I dont appreciate a fetus reciting the methods for usurping my privacy.

  4. AI has nothing to do with consciousness, AI doesn't need to learn. As long as a machine can solve problem in an intelligent way, that is enough to be considered AI, just like John McCarthy defined in to be in 1956. There is great misconception from people with no computer science background that all AI has learning capabilities.

  5. Here from your channel. Am happy you are growing and getting big opportunities like this πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

  6. I am still not convinced. I agree that it's nice to have AI literacy, but I need to know so much stuff nowadays, so I don't understand why learning AI has priority. Learning how to send an email is obviously important. But I don't understand the importance of learning about AI.
