Nigel Freeman, director of African American Fine Art at Swann Auction Galleries in New York, discusses Al Loving’s 1969 color field painting, “Three Solid Questions.” Alvin D. Loving, Jr., was an important Abstract Expressionist artist. His work is in the permanent collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Studio Museum Harlem, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, among numerous others.
