  1. Rating the Presidents is like playing any historical "what if" game. It's completely dependent on the individual doing the rating and that individual's opinions. My college political science and history departments allowed myself and another classmate to survey each of the department's professors, about 20 individuals. The survey asked each professor to list, not any particular order, their top five and bottom five Presidents with a rationale. For context, this was 1973 during Nixon's second term at the height of Watergate. (Yes, I'm that old.) None of the lists were exactly the same although Buchanan, Jefferson, Lincoln, Pierce, and Washington appeared on all of them. Harding, Jackson, both Roosevelts and Wilson appeared on most. (Wilson always appeared in the top five perhaps because the full story of his administration wouldn't come to light until the 1990s.) Even the rationales weren't consistent, particularly for the Presidents always in the top five (Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington). An interesting exercise but no solid conclusions.

  2. I really don't think it was fair for Ben to blame Obama for Americans having a more negative opinion on race relations by 2015. I feel 2014 was THE year America really woke up to continuing prevalence of racism – particularly after the Michael Brown shooting in August of that year. It's also the year Black Lives Matter really gained mainstream prominence, and movies like "Dear White People" were released. All things that Obama had little to do with.

  3. What you said about James Buchanan (probaly) being looked at more favorably if he was president 30 years earlier is very true. People don't give him crap for most of what he did. It's most of what he didn't do. He was a (mostly) hands-off president during a time where America BADLY needed a very hands-on president. If he were president in the 1830s, he wouldn't be in anyone's top 5 worst presidents of all-time.

  4. hell yeah to the intro. You have a great open mind man. The ending was preaching too, ridiculous to call any president in my lifetime at least as the "best" or "worst". we literally had presidents making hate crimes/slavery/genocide legal in the past… i think that will always take the cake over someone like trump/obama/whatever

  5. Ben Shapiro surely is a bit of a knucklehead sometimes (like when he wanted to abolish retirement), but calling him "extreme right wing" is not really fair. I mean, the alt-right hates his gut for a reason.

  6. richard nixon is way worse than jimmy carter in my opinion, though I think the vietnam war is mostly the military industry's failure. the removal of the gold standard and handing the future governments a golden ticket to tax the people without a vote is criminal. He pretty much is a criminal anyways, so its not a surprise. I dislike Ronald Reagan but holy hell i wish the gold standard was a thing when he was president so he was forced to actually solve our problem of spending too much. IDK what to do at the same time with nukes in the picture, its pretty crazy

  7. Ben’s politics are all pretty much a giant smoke screen meant to latch on to , and endear himself to a large constituency of conservative thinking Americans. The real message he is peddling is keeping America and it’s people as closely allied to the state of Israel as possible. Nothing wrong with that , if you don’t mind being manipulated, or if genocide is not a particular problem for you.

  8. History doesn't start until 25 years have passed. Events closer to that are called contemporary issues and have too much bias to be "written record"

  9. Love watching your channel. I'm someone who identified as somewhat of a centrist historically, but am now finding myself aligning a bit more with center-left (without necessarily changing a lot of my beliefs). This channel often times gives me a lot of great insight & I love that you tackle it relatively objectively while simultaneously also calling out when you may be biased.

The sheer fact that I can watch your channel, hear that you state you're a conservative ahead of time, and still see that you place Obama in the mid-20s of president is reflective of the value you place on objectivity. Totally appreciate the content and I'm excited to subscribe.

  10. Carter is the one who placed Paul Volcker in charge of the Fed to get a handle on stagflation……and that single move began to correct the economy….Reagan kept Volcker on to finish the job and got all the credit for the recovery…..

  11. Thanks Chris, as someone from the UK I would not dream of commenting on worst Presidents of he USA – but please can you do one on the worst Recent 3 British Prime Ministers? I would say, Liz Truss, Teresa May and the present one is not doing too good so far! ps I loved the one you did on the worst English kings of England, definitely that was King John, King Henry V111 and the very brief reign of King Edward V111!

  12. Very good review. It's tough to find someone who can be as fair and balanced in their views now-a-days (includes the last 8 years actually).

  13. Shapiro blaming Obama for race relations is something that shows me he's a bad faith actor. He says that Obama made race relations worse between whites and blacks but he can't point to an actual policy or moment that happened. The real reason is because of social media… in 2012 Facebook went public and bought instagram. Before that the only people on facebook were college students… So we get our first black president getting reelected in the same year everyone gets access to social media… people start using social media to express their racist feelings and everyone can see it… before then racism was more covert, more hidden. I feel like that's kinda obvious but they continue with the talking point that Obama was divisive. It's just so disingenuous in my opinion.
