Toward the mid part of the 21st century due to rapid population growth on Earth, the unified world government push forth the terraformation and colonization of Mars. Thanks to the advances of productive forces sustainable Arcologies powered by nuclear fusion with state of the life support systems have been developed. In the decades that followed technological advances have continued especially in regards to AI and robotic technology giving rise to 3 generations of robots: The First generation that are clearly robotic in their appearance as well as actions, the second generation that are humanoid possessing narrow AI and finally the third possessing strong AI, these robots are so lifelike in their appearance as well as mannerisms that the line between robots and humans have been blurred.

Ross Sylibus a police detective from Earth has migrated to Mars to start a new life with the Martian Police Department hoping to escape the demons that have plagued him after losing his leg and partner to a robot. Because of the trauma he has suffered at the hands of a robot he has developed a clear disdain for them. While arriving at Mars he is immediately tossed into his first case with his new partner Naomi Armitage; however, unknown to him she is a 3rd a fiery blond and petite gynoid.
