Beyond the prejudices and apocalyptic visions, Artificial Intelligence can have a practical application in the short and medium term as an accelerator of scientific research, defended today in Lisbon one of the greatest experts in this field. Contrary to this negative view, the expert stated that the IA will cause changes in the relationship we maintain with the machines, with an adaptation of humans to the systems, and not the other way around. It will also improve the decision-making process since the AI allows data processing that makes it easier to understand.
While in relation to human work, believes that machines can take on “repetitive tasks”, such as user services, which will leave space for humans to take on “complex questions.” To this are added the changes that the IA will introduce in the way of making code and that, by treating and organizing information in a different way, it could lead to change the way we have ideas. “We can create systems that process information, articles, to help make a discovery,” said Pesenti, who urged not to fear AI and move away from apocalyptic topics.
