Bernardo Kastrup is a metaphysical philosopher with a Ph.D in Computer Engineering with specializations in artificial intelligence and reconfigurable computing. He worked as a scientist in some of the world’s foremost research laboratories, including the CERN where he developed software and hardware for high energy physics experiments, and the Philips research laboratories where the Casimir Effect of Quantum Field Theory was discovered. He has written many academic papers and books on philosophy and science, including the books: More than Allegory, Why Materialism is Baloney and Brief Peeks Beyond. He has also been an entrepreneur and the founder of a successful tech startup.

A brilliant discussion. Thank you for this. I am wondering if maybe the 'placebo' effect ,well known by medicine/psychology, might be somehow a kind of uncaused disassociation that accesses a quantum field of potential provoked regardless of the space/time resolution/provocation expected with conventional medication. Just a thought. In any case would love to hear Bernardo's notion of the placebo effect.
BK is the Boss. The condition mentioned at like 38:00, I forget the name but its a rare but documented phenomenon where people with as little as only 5-10% of a brain have normal or even above avg. IQ's. This is even MUCH more bizarre than finding only a battery & perhaps a radiator under the hood of a well running car. & its is a HUGE issue for materialism. Neuroplasticity 😂

He is only a symptom of how AI is thinking. If you remove the profit from AI it will instantly become BS that will be trashed as delusional thinking. Religion is profitable and has weathered thousands of years by simply claiming it alone has the absolute truth with many bazar and unprovable statements. The Machiavellian Military Jesuit priests of the Catholic Church are entrenched in academia/science and are using this old superstition mindset to create a new religion/cosmology of Artificial Intelligence.
These synonyms use to define artificial describe perfectly AI and UNs agenda 4.0. Most could care less if it is true because is profitable. Machiavellian Pragmatism is dominating in this fake cosmology of Babylonian origins we support so energetically.

Lots of areas to touch on in this interview. But just on Bernado's response about the Gnostic view of the Demiurge enslaving mankind – around 46:00 – Bernado says that "Consciousness is all there is, so who is the Demiurge?" Well, the follow-up response to that might be "The Demiurge is another form of consciousness enslaving other forms of consciousness.." In other words, just because the Demiurge is consciousness doesn't really say anything to the idea of enslavement by the Demiurge, as proposed by the Gnostic view.. After all, people-consciousness' have been enslaved here on this very planet, in some form or another, almost throughout its entire history.

Enjoyable discussion, thanks. I stumbled across Bernardo’s work a couple of years ago. ‘Why Materialism is Baloney’ sparked an epiphany and I’ve been fascinated since. Materialism / physicalism feels so intuitively correct, but these eloquently articulated ideas are highly compelling.
Very good discussion. Having followed Dr Kastrups arguments in his works, I now think they are compelling, and also fully congruent with existing quantum mechanics. As Penrose has pointed out, further advance in physics depends upon an understanding and inclusion of consciousness in explanation of that which exists. Kastrups work is a logical and empirically based pathway to an ontology whereby the physical universe is explained in a correct perspective of 'reality'.
