Good video with time taken to explain far more details than Linus and his stupid joke
CMOS stand for "Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor"
I would like to replace UEFI with Linuxboot. How to do it?
pentium core i7 0:55
Sounds like DDOI
Excellent !
Oh I will love this channel, I am not gonna lie.
good explained
Hello, thank you for an interesting video.
I have two questions:
1. Afaik, BIOS is stored on ROM, i.e. read-only memory. How is it possible to overwrite a read-only memory with a different BIOS?
2. What's the point of having one volatile, and one non-volatile memory? Is volatility a requirement for overwriting?
You are life saviour! I could understand it on the fly whereas i literally struggled with Mr.Meyers book! But one thing can be sure of is, if someone studies Meyers book and this channel. This is a powerful combo!
CMOS = Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor
I'd love to see a wristwatch that takes a battery as big as the CR2032 that most motherboards use. Not a good example, but a decent video attempt at simplifying a very complex topic.
Thanks ๐๐
Explanation is good and easy to get big up
lol my bios is the old one but it looks like the new one
Great video, now the bios and cmos I am totally aware of how to use them and what they were for but since Iโm old school I wasnโt really sure how to use UEFI, Iโm able to navigate between UEFI and bios but my main board doesnโt have graphical interphase like you described, itโs either or. But thank you so much for your info.. God bless all.
Does UEFI work with a 3.0 usb mouse cuz mine doesnโt. Peace
what the fu** there are no intel pentium core i7, i've been searching everywhere around the internet and find no result
If you take the CMOS battery out for a long while, would it damagane the UEFI or BIOS in a new computer

What happen if the CMOS battery is dry out and does not replaced? What will happen in the booting process?
also MB PWD is stored in CMS
Yo you make some awesome videos.
In my opinion, In the Bios one can't use the mouse. While on the UEFI one can use the mouse. Other than that, everything is about the same.
Only now I did know the difference between BIOS and CMOS, awesome, please keep going
Dude! We owe you a beer!! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for your great channel. Keep it up !
My computer is 9 years old and has never made any beeps when it boots, and it boots correctly. Though, it does have a number LED indicating if something is wrong.
Some low end mobos UEFIs is looking same as regular BIOS interface, so the UEFI is not equal to a modern UI with mouse/animation/etc support. The biggest difference is in the booting process: BIOS needs a boot sector to boot up anything, but UEFI is only need a 512MB FAT32 partition with a special flag, and you can choose in UEFI what bootloader you want to boot.
not all PCs beep when POST is completed
I don't have anymore a battary on my notebook. Cause thr battery case doesn't hold the battery anymore. But the bios settings still like I've config them.
And where is the backdoor, I've heard about minix, on the computers? That send or some bad guys metadata.
And how to overwrite the BIOS UEFI with an open source and a clearfirmware?
Man is close to 800k subs very very underrated channel
I'm using a acer aspire 5 laptop. When I access its bios I can't drop down and alter any settings. Do you know what the problem may be. I tried to install ubuntu on virtual box, would have this caused the problem?
I dont think modern computers beep
