Teaching children mindfulness and deep breathing techniques are helpful to decrease stress and anxiety and help children slow down and self regulate. When children are upset, breathing helps them relax. Breathing also increases the supply of oxygen in the body which improves the immune system, decreases panic attacks and stress related symptoms and significantly elevates mood. When children or adults are feeling stressed, try to focus your attention on your breath and incorporate these creative breathing interventions that are fun and playful. Blowing bubbles is another favorite activity to teach deep breathing. Great idea! I need to find some of those balls for my practice. I wonder if they come in a smaller size for my in-home sessions?
