This video has no end of problems. First of all dualists have no need to explain consciousness any more than they need to explain matter. So the very title demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding. Sounds like a materialist dreamt up the title in fact.
Secondly, dualism in no shape or form entails a "life after death". Not even substance dualism does.
Thirdly, the fact that dualism is heresy amongst neuroscientists is of zero interest since virtually none of them understand what dualism means (as with most other scientists).
Fourthly, in reference to what Yujin says, the fact that dualism is not "pretty", or to suppose everything is non-physical is implausible (as in idealism) do not constitute arguments or reasons to reject either dualism or idealism. Physicalism is not only implausible, it appears to be inconsistent with the very existence of consciousness. Even if it were, it seems to be inconsistent with the notion of a causally efficacious will, or that we are literally the same self from one second to the next. What could be more implausible than rejecting that I'm a different self now from when I first started typing this sentence!
Fifthly, in reference to the atheist materialist philosopher Bede Rundle (at 15:08). He has argued that consciousness is composed of "some ethereal subtle substance". Maybe Fred Blogs down the pub proclaims this, but which serious thinker has ever done so? I'll answer that shall I? No one at all! It's a silly straw man.
And, in reference to Bede Rundle's claim that consciousness should be considered to be similar to kindness or carelessness. So consciousness is not a thing, but a disposition to behaviour like kindness or carelessness I guess. But that is to deny what people mean by consciousness i.e we are selves that have thoughts, experiences emotions, have various experiences etc. In no shape nor form can consciousness be compared to carelessness, the very suggestion is simply preposterous.
Personal Conclusions from various sources "We Are All One Consciousness" for the following reasons:
1. In this world everything must have a cause, so that something exists because of something else, as well as ourselves.
2. It will be very saturating / boring if we have only one physical form in this world.
3. It will be very saturating / boring if all human beings have the exact same physical form behavior.
4. Try to imagine emptying all the physical things around us only the remnants of humanity, then eliminating all human beings leaving only their memories, then removing all their memories leaving only their consciousness, then connecting that consciousness, feel who we are ??.
5. Body, mind, feelings, emotions and everything in this world is always changing, so what never changes ??, that is our true self, which is true consciousness. If everything changes2 / moves who observes, there must be something fixed to be able to observe.
6. All human beings communicate with each other is the beginning of the beginning / the future of human beings unite, only electronic devices today can unite all human beings, one day the device is implanted in the human mind and eventually man will open all access to his mind.
7. Our body is a group / accumulation of memory accumulated brought from the beginning of the birth of the first human in the world through continuous DNA binding.
8. Twins are born at the same time, what if all human beings are born at the same time ??. What happens if the birth of all human beings is not influenced by the dimensions of space and time ??
9. The twins are identical to A and B, if the whole memory of A is copied to B, what is the difference ??
10. The law of attraction (law of attraction) that our minds will attract whatever we think, because we are all like one part of the body.

Of course our consciousness is part of the universe. I feel like I’m born 1000 years too early. I want to see this play out,,..
the more we ask the expert, the more we got confuse. Truth is not what you can find, truth is define!
symbolism will help human logic to see this from a 3rd person's perspective.
I can prove that the mind and body are separate. Consider this argument (modus tollens):
1.) If your mind and your body are not separate, then it would not seem possible that you (your first-person consciousness) could have had another body, such as having a body of a dog or a dolphin.
2.) It does seem possible that you (your first-person consciousness) could have had another body, such as having a body of a dog or a dolphin.
3.) Therefore, your mind and your body are separate.
Does consciousness sense the motion of distinct bodies, possibly through free will, such that consciousness is the sense of free will moving distinct bodies?
Could the brain as a whole be conscious? Perhaps something in brain brings whole brain together to sense consciously?
Maybe consciousness is a monism composed of physical and mental together?

Richard Swinburne was pretty creepy about the brains, but the explanation was unique and conclusive.
Dualism is a mental construct devised by men. My belief is that man is not capable understanding the nature of reality because we are mired in our own limited perspective.

Richard's defence of dualism make no sense. If anything they prove there's not a substancial self. If you split your brain into two and it gives you two new conscious streams that claim to be the continuation of the original. Well, they're both right, where does it sugest we need something more to explain in this case? The "me" divided into two, that just proves that was never an individual essence to begin with. Each brain/mind has access to some of the memories and see a casual link between them, constructs a narrative and identify with it. I also fail to see how a soul would not provide more confusion. What would happen to a soul in that case?
The universe is BOTH physical and non-physical at the same time. Truth is a paradox but with understanding this seeming conflict of opposing views can be appreciated as two poles of Truth operating on different sides of the same spectrum.
The universe is dualistic, pluralistic, and monotheistic at the same time. It depends upon our approach and state of consciousness in which we are operating as to how we chose to view the macrocosm.
It's becoming clear that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine.
Brain science will never understand consciousness because consciousness is NOT a product of the brain..neurons/cells/synapses do NOT give rise to awareness..electricity does not create consciousness..etc..I think we are looking at a completely unique phenomena with consciousness..not in the realms of "spirituality" as such, but in the realms of quantum mechanics and the universe..I think consciousness existed before life on earth..I think consciousness is something we receive not something we produce..sounds daft to some, but it convinces many great scientists and philosophers..
If you consider the Out of Body Experience – which is NOT an illusion – I say it's not an illusion because people have the OBE during cardiac arrest when they are unconscious – then what we have is mind and consciousness separating from the body. People experience lucid awareness outside their brains so to speak, some people have the OBE and float to the ceiling and look at their body below them..if it was an illusion why would they perceive things accurately from a birds eye vantage point and be able to explain what they saw upon awakening?
Think about it logically..you are unconscious on an ambulance bed..your heart stops beating..your eyes are shut..you are out for the count BUT then you suddenly find yourself with LUCID awareness outside of your physical body and are able to witness nurses and doctors trying to revive you…logically we must assume your mind or consciousness is not within the confines of the brain..
I never used to believe things like this until I started doing research…
God free will is developing / building full conscious / human awareness using physical world / universe.

Is there possibilty of being in a dualist phase, going from only immaterial (idealist monism) to only material (physical monism)? Maybe why we can be shifty.
If consciousness were to be shown to have non-physical ends, would that demonstrate immaterial existence for consciousness?
Can language be researched, along with awareness, to see if consciousness might be immaterial? Does language have something immaterial?
Dualism explains the dynamics aspect of existence. All humans are made of an inward-being and a physical body. A humans being is a concatenation of four electromagnetic fields namely the spirit, the soul, the mind, and the body.
The three fields spirit, soul, and mind in synergy form what the Bible calls the inward-man. And the interaction of the inward-man with the physical body creates our realities.
The inward-man or inward-being is an immaterial being made of spirit, soul, and mind which are nothing more than the electromagnetic field over the heart, the blood, and the brain respectively.
Our existence is about dualism but that dualism ceases once we die. The inward-man deprived of the physical body continues to live in that realm religious people call Hades or the realm of the dead. In that realm, space and time cease to be, and dualism fades away.
Monism takes over after the entropy kicks the inward-man out of the body. Monism explains the static aspect of life in general but is preponderant in the immaterial realm.
To sum up, monism works in the immaterial realm while dualism explains existence in the material realm when life is deployed. All is one from the immaterial realm to the material world because everything is made of the same stuff. The difference lies in the frequency of vibration of things. Each existence is characterized by its own frequency.
A good example to depict this is H2o. At a certain frequency, H2o is liquid and then turns into solid or vapor. Whether ice or vapor, it still H2o. All things in this universe share the common source. And to interact with each other, things operate using dualism.
Existence is the totality of all there is in the material world. There is a good reason we must emphasize the material world because out of the material world, existence ceases to be. Anything that exists is located only in space-time and has mass. Three things must characterize existence: space, time, and mass.
Existence is the manifestation of life in the material world. Life is infinite while existence is finite. Existence has a beginning while life has none. Existence begins with the apparition of the Higgs scalar field, the field that gives mass to immaterial particles.
Consciousness is more than inner awareness. It is the expression of the giant algorithm we call life through various frequencies available in the material world as well as the immaterial realm. For consciousness to be, there must be a frequency of expression. Thus, the Higher consciousness, which pervades, penetrates, and permeates everything in this universe, expresses itself as medium consciousness through humans and low consciousness through everything below humans (animals, vegetals, and minerals; molecules and every atom.)
Would the necessity for a conscious observer in the settlement of a quantum event be the link to the physicalistic monism without dualism?
Man, you guys are messed up bad. the answer to any question is always simple and logical. Complicated questions are for complicated people , "Closer to the truth" is pulling those who follow them away from the truth and that's what the enemies of God and man want to achieve. they don't lnow they are serving darkness. But darkness will serve the light. Understand who may!
