A 1.4-meter tall robot shuttled back and forth at a local restaurant in south China’s Shenzhen City, dexterously taking orders with its touch panel and serving the plates at the table. In addition to restaurants, smart robots are now widely employed at hotels, supermarkets and banks in China. The Chinese State Council published the Development Plan for the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on July 20, 2017. The country expects the volume of its core AI industries to top a trillion yuan by 2030.
