17. Sir: This video was, indeed, was informative. Thank you for sharing your "genius" with an amatuer. In the time set 6:28 of the video you use a "closed palette" with nine (9) skin tones values. Would you happen to have a chart listing the oil paints mixed in each of the nine (9) skin tones values. It would be great to see another video tutoring how to mix these skin tones. 22. For artists starting out: Skin is translucent, this means that light passes through it (and absorbs it). It can have all kinds of hues depending completely on the lighting situation. Therefore it's tricky to say THIS is how you make a skin tone, it's only true for the scene the author is painting now. It's not set in stone, and actually creatively limiting if you start thinking this way. Once you understand very well how value and light actually work you can literally interpret your subject/scene any way/color you want or see it. Not hating, this video is very informative nonetheless!

27. Ahhhhh….so! I bet teaching like you do increases your level of art by quite a bit. What do I do? I’m 68 and I can draw people and it looks like them. How can I make up for thirty years of experience in 2 years? I cannot! Why 2 years? I have that much in supplies basically….just in case I don’t get good enough I might quit trying when I run out of stuff. Or should I just study one style. I’ve narrowed it down to portraits only. At least getting education here will help speed up my progress so I can get past this demoralizing stage

I use acrylics and the paints i have bought recently are a different make to the ones i had previously, the new paints seem to have a more glossy finish as opposed to the matt finish of the earlier ones and this affects the visualised colour. this also seems to change how they look when mixing and painting. do paints normally have some indication of the matt or glossy finish or is it just a matter of trying different makes to get what you are happy with.

31. there is no such thing as "flesh tones" no more than apple tones og landscape tones. this nonsense would make the old masters turne in there graves ..

33. If everyone has the same hue in their skin color, why are some people are discussing undertones in skin and what makeup/hair color/clothes to wear with it? I always see that I have a slightly yellowish skin tone than most people while I know people with a more “blue” looking skin
