  1. This is the second most important advice: Getting the color right will get the value right. Of course the best advice is paint what you see, not what you THINK you see :). Thanks for the great tips and reminders.

  2. this is just what I've been working on. I'm having to translate a color picture into graphite. so i keep asking myself "is this value translating to that color" and its very difficult when you have two colors that are very light and very close in range of
colors. so I just try to do my best and if I can't decide on a value I move on to texture, that usually helps me define the value a little better.

  3. Well Brandon I think you are confusing your followers who are beginners … Value is not just a matter of black and white but of darks and lights…value has to do with the dark and lights of Color! Make sure you have your facts right before making pronouncements about art because you have a responsibility to your audience now…you need to use valid academic sources and quote from your references … Think about how confusing it must be for a beginner to now think of value as only black and white drawings! Take the time to prepare and write up each tip, using academic sources that you can find on line, before you do a video "how-to".

  4. Many thanks for your videos on colour theory, I never really understood this before, your easy teaching skills have taught me a lot on colour and tonal values.
