DaBaby’s meteoric rise has come coupled with one nagging critique—he often uses the same flow. Following the release of his album, ‘BLAME IT ON BABY,’ DaBaby joined ‘The Breakfast Club’ and dismissed the criticism, suggesting that he could make a “conscious album” like J. Cole. On the latest episode of ‘For The Record,’ Genius VP of Content Strategy Rob Markman discussed DaBaby’s rap style and debated that question. Creator of Fake Shore Drive Andrew Barber, co-creator of the ‘Rap Radar’ podcast Brian “B.Dot” Miller, and on-air personality Letty Peniche joined Markman for the conversation and ultimately agreed that Baby has the chops to drop a “conscious” album, even if he doesn’t have a reputation for that particular style.

If he did people would complain again
No. No he couldn't
I would listen to it. I'm not sure if it would be believable but if he could balance it like J. Cole or even Big Krit then it would do well
I want to hear Drake doing gangster/drug dealer rap.
i think rob wrong fans love consciousness n entertainment life lessons n expressiveness, n Letty right we can be versatile it's up to the listener to tolerate n listen with an open mind to all music
Letty was 100% right about conscious rappers helping people think about things they wouldn't think that much about previously, great guest selection for everyone involved. Keep up the good work.
Why this even a video smh

A Lot Of Rappers Are Scared To Be Themselves. Reasons Why People Respect Rappers Like Curren$y, Wiz, Wale, Meek & Mac Miller. They’re All Unapologetically Themselves Whether You Like Em Or Not
Wale, Fabolous, Meek, & Even Dave East Are All Better Overall Rappers Than Cole Kendrick, & Drake. We Gotta Stop Wit The 3 Names Shyt Because In All Honesty They Are Not The Best. Yea, They’re Talented But People Give Them Waaayyy More Credit For Things That Were Done Before & Better Than Them By Other Fellow Emcees. This Makes Them All Overrated In My Opinion. Fucc Popularity & Views, I’m Strictly Talking MC To MC, Bar For Bar💯💯💯
Lettyyyyyyyy
He could but the flow trash
On moms "Conscious rap" is one of the most ambiguous term ever.
Rob can we get that Jay Elect/ Jay and Drakes new mixtape discussions for these quarantine lockdown times of need for the culture?
I love Letty she had smoke for Drake a decade not letting up God damn.
I would love if DaBaby did that
Drake is NOT conscious rap!!!
Da Baby sounds good, doesn't have the talent for a conscious flow. J Cole is a trash example of flow in general. Hahahahaha
No
No lol
just listened to "Lights please"
This video make me so happy for some reason
I don't think he could do it. Just sayin
Do we need a 31 min video for a simple “no”??
Tbvh I just came cuz I saw Cole 👀 sorry
Any rapper can make a conscious album
why everyone against Dababy
Of course he could 😊
dababy is trash
He a got black mama he drop one if Cole can
