  30. Kirby got his name because Universal Studios sued Nintendo in 1983 because Universal believed that only they had the right to the name "Kong". So Nintendo hired an attorney to represent them and Nintendo won. The Name of the attorney was, wait for it… John Kirby Jr. So, as a personal thank you Shigeru Miyamoto named the character of his new game, Kirby. I wonder what they would have called Donkey Kong? Fun fact, Nintendo's second choice of a name for Donkey Kong was Kong Dong. Yeah… that would have gone over real good in the United States. 😅

  34. Get your facts straight. They changed the name to Kirby as a tribute to their lawyer, John Kirby, who had just won them a huge copyright case against Universal over Donkey Kong.
