Thanks ?
Thanks. This is one of the better videos I seen on critiquing. I am very interested in majoring in Art History but I know the hardest part for me will be this subject because if its too abstract for my personal tastes its hard for me to see what's there. I keep reminding myself to approach it the way my friend approached me one day to join her makeup sales lady group. The concept sounded interesting once you learned how to explain the shapes and contours of the face, what the different products where used for, and how to market to each persons tastes. It is a great route to go into if you're interested, you learn alot of budgeting for independent business women, and the shares percentage in your pyramid-group selling with you. The how to's of budgeting was what made me give it a thought before I decided it wasn't for me. I'm not a makeup girl, its not important to me and i don't "get" the must haves lol! But that experience DID teach me how to see the quality of a product from an interested buyers point of view. Basically its marketing someone's story, someone's history. I LOVE history.
"Feldman" is actually the name of a real person…his full name is "Edmund Burke Feldman." And I looked him up on Google…and there's this black and white photo of him, and I assume he's a dead person…but actually, no…he's a really old guy born on May 6 of 1924, he's 93 years old, and he's still alive today! DAYUM! For someone so old though, he looks in relatively good shape…he'll still be alive for a while, thankfully.
5:38 sums up my exact thoughts and feelings when looking at a urinal…. "mmm"
Should you ever need to know anything about the artist in order to understand or appreciate a work of art? Shouldn’t a work of art be able to stand alone? We are shown Marcel Duchamp’s urinal which is not visual art like a painting or a drawing or even a sculpture. It is what is called a Readymade….a real object taken out of its functional context and used as part of a Conceptual Art piece. Conceptual art does not lend itself to the same kind of analysis and critique that is applied to visual art. After watching this video, do you feel any clearer or more confident about evaluating visual art?
Being able to assess the quality of a painting or sculpture is not something you can learn from a ten minute video . This video is not BY professor Feldman. I don’t know the identity of the speaker. But if I were him, I would keep my identity a secret.this video is of minimal value.
