It is the idea of helping computers provide outputs without being explicitly programmed to do so. There are more machine learning use cases that augment human decisions than those that outright replace them.<br /> <br />– Referring to GPT3 with just GPT is like referring to City, Civic, and Accord with Honda. All three iterations have differences in terms of their depth, training and validation datasets, training duration, etc. There are 8 versions just of GPT3 itself!<br /> <br />– GPT3 will not replace coding. The whole point of coding is to provide precise enough instructions for a computer to understand. Giving vague instructions to GPT3 (as shown in the sample videos) will not actually scale and is not reasonable to be expected of a computer.<br /> <br />– The above point can also go for a design, the model can only design according to what it has been trained on. Also, GPT3 is not the first (or even the best!) at generative design. Autodesk has done amazing work on it.<br /> <br />– The example of the travel apps does not use machine learning as you said it did. At most, Google uses ML to figure out traffic conditions but the time calculation is done by a travel time matrix based on a network/graph of nodes made up of the locations in an area.<br /> <br />– The purpose of GPT3 is not to "give the power of AI to everyone in the world", GPT3 is just a model that can work only on text-specific scenarios. It can not do anything pertaining to object detection/recognition, pose estimation, image recognition, semantic analysis, etc.<br /> <br />– Everything you mentioned that GPT3 does is already being done by numerous other models (in some cases better than GPT3, like translation tasks). The whole point of GPT3 that you failed to mention was the fact that this one model itself is really good at becoming a zero-shot, one-shot, and few-shot learner in numerous domains. The novelty about it is NOT how good it can do anything, it's about how MANY things it can do, which very few models/architectures are able to do so.<br /> <br />– GPT3 CAN NOT BE DOWNLOADED. It's accessible only through an API because the model is crazily huge to fit on even the highest end of PCs. I have absolutely no idea how you came to think that the world's largest ML model that took $12M in electricity bills and weeks upon weeks of training would be available for download.
