Looks very nice.
Been thinking a little about that bookmarking system (since you had no access to story) I think it would be best to somehow link from a public bookmark to the public site, so you would have no duplicate content on your site as well as easy navigation to these stories. But im not sure if im thinking from the wrong side right now. I mean if one would take these stories serious, you would have to be able to bookmark the "chapter" and enable notifications when new chapters are out. That would be an entirely different system altogether.
About comments i think showing a few is nice, but will have the effect that comments wont be engaging as soon as the top comments have been written, as no one will open the comment section to read the rest. (Example would be the webtoon app, ios and android) On the other hand, a comment button that opens a sidebar (and closes and opens a new one if another comment button is pressed) would allow you to quickly scroll through all comments without interrupting your reading flow. Usually on desktop sites, most use disqus for comments and have one page per chapter, so it works just fine with comments below.
Something I would personally like to see are comments sorted by "newest first" by default. That would make them either way a lot more engaging.
will there be support for other time periods or fictional media in the future (similar to how there can be stories or games for anything in AID)
Is the website live yet? I only just found this project through a google search.
