How Close Are We To Sentient AI?

Science Unbound

Your computer might whip your ass at chess, but it’s still pretty bad at the regular person stuff.

  1. This video didn't age well. 😆 Since ChatGPT, everyone is talking about AGI, and how we may be much closer to it than the predicted "several centuries away".

  2. You should have mentioned the fact that chess computers are not true AI, they are just computer programs that do not learn except through updates from developers.

  3. Let's load all of Simon's videos into a deep-learning AI, and then ask it to choose a topic at random from Reddit, and create a 22-minute video starring Simon for this channel.

  4. I'm still waiting for the world of Ghost in the Shell to become a reality so I can have my brain transplaneted into the body of a cool robot lady.

  5. This was before ChatGPT came out wasn't it? Wow this hasn't aged well. As that program shows, our narrow AI have recently gotten insanely better with much broader applications. The more a neural network increases in complexity, the greater it's capacity for broader functionality….yes like a brain.

As things are now, ChatGPT could totally send out killer robots to kill people one day, randomly. It certainly isn't sentient, and it would have no idea what it was actually doing, but it has the capacity to deviate from its current programming, and then implement an assassination out of the blue….Assuming the killer robots already existed, but that's another issue.

In fact, any computer program could technically randomly stop working properly and do this, but something like ChatGPT is the only thing so far that is of sufficient complexity and ability to interact with humans to actually be able to accomplish this.

  6. Thumbnail : Chess Computers suck

My mind : The Chess on the excersise machine at my gym who has beat me multipe times. Perhaps I just need more practice ?

  7. I watched this russian show on netflix i cant remember the name rn but it was about a robot that looked human and it was the only robot that broke the laws of robotics cant wait for this to happen irl

  8. I mean there's gotta be a way to make a general level human intelligence computer, we do it with meat every day, when it'll happen, or if we as a species will pursue such a creation is a reasonable question that I have no clue what the answer is.

  9. This video is terrible. A lot of AI researchers are now predicting decades or even years before general AI not centuries. And of course general AI is possible because human intelligence is.

  10. I think I watched this when it first released… or close to it anyway. 2+ years on let’s see how well it holds up. After just recently multiple LLMs were completely humiliated by a chess software on an Atari home computer. 🙂
