How the Quantum Computer Revolution Will Change Everything with Michio Kaku & Neil deGrasse Tyson

StarTalk

How will quantum computing change the world? Neil deGrasse Tyson and comedian Chuck Nice learn about the development of quantum computing and what it means for humanity with theoretical physicist Michio Kaku.

What will quantum computing do beyond regular computing? Find out about the race to create the first all-purpose quantum computer and Michio’s book, Quantum Supremacy: How the Quantum Computer Revolution Will Change Everything. Discover quantum bits and how quantum computing breaks from binary. How will we use quantum computers in astrophysics? We explore disaster scenarios and how quantum computing could help us predict coronal mass ejections.

Where is quantum computing currently? We discuss brain mapping and whether quantum computers could be used as transporters. Plus, learn what it’s like to work in string theory and how Michio got his start. Would it be possible to create instant interstellar communication using quantum entanglement?

Learn how quantum entanglement works and why it would be hard to send a message faster than the speed of light. Could quantum computing solve infinity? What is spacetime foam? What forces cause the strings in string theory to vibrate? All that, plus, what comes AFTER quantum computing?

  1. Michio is the only person who's showing respect to the other people in this discussion. Or should I say to the self proclaimed god of the truth and his monkey….I admire Michio for his modesty and his ability to not to fight fire with fire. Neill de grasse (and soimething else) is so full of himself… and that's a real pitty to me….

  2. Couldn't you make use of the nonsense information by turning the presence of a change of information as a "1" and no change of information as a "0", and reconvert the totality of info into binary? If not, why not?

  3. It still remains to be proven that quantum computing (which relies on extremely complex error reduction algorithms) is faster than fully optimized code running on digital computers. I suspect they ultimately offer the same performance.

  4. Thanks for this era….in the time in the year 90s and early 2000s…physics and math are boring only for intellectual and how many times you study it is difficult to understand….. Then now after THE BIG BANG SERIES, AFTER THIS TWO GREAT PHYSIST AND AMONG OTHER, WHO MAKE THE SUBJECT FUNNY AND EASILY UNDERSTOOD BY COMMON PEOPLE..LOVE THIS GUYS

  5. but… you see the color of the sock at the speed of light, your brain makes the calculations it needs to know what color the other sock is at the speed of light. maybe I didnt understand the analogy?

  6. I fold strings in my mind also, it's very comfortable and tangible. Today, I realized I have been doing quantum gravity bridge and making hyper graphs in my mind as some form of synesthesia or something. Jumping from doing string theory to QGB in my mind's eye is uncomfortable, any recommendations?

  7. Read a book by Patrick Lee call The Breach. Won't give away the plot, but it involves an AI created by the main character in the book. The AI is called Bluebird (every iteration before it was the color of a bird to signify advancement) and it explains to the main character where it's from and why, and how it uses all the quarks that exist on earth to make calculations. It's crazy.

  8. sorry if im dumb but if you know you have a 0 you know at the other side of the galaxu there is a 1 so this is a information transfered instantly and i dont understand how itsnot usable … if you do the same thing with multiple atoms side by side (in theory) you obtain a digital code with 1 and 0 and you simply know its the other way around on the ''other side"

  9. Two of the world's leading scientists discussing the future of humanity and cracking jokes. Excellent! A video like this should be on a billion views. But I suppose they're not quite on the same level as Beyonce and Taylor Swift. 😂

  10. Hello Mr neil tyson, it is a bit embarrassing to the serious guest to manage your interview , is that you keep on laughing on a very little mater uselessly, while the guest feel embarrassing at that situation.
    Improve this habit while interviewing😮😅😅😅😅😅
