“The idea of my project with Danto’s fingerprints is as following. Arthur Danto gives his fingerprints in red paint, which very much resembles blood, especially with the soundtrack of murdered people, with horrible yelling, crying, and sobbing. The entire video is built upon the opposition of the casual taking of fingerprints as if it is a game in an upscale bourgeois setting in contrast to the horrible sounds of destruction and murder in the background. Arthur Danto said to me during our video dialogue in October 2010 that everything will go as art as if it is a game. This game is self-aimed and gives a damn about human suffering. Though he feels that this stance is not good enough, and calls this situation “the end of art”, he still lets it go. It is because Western Art is totally and completely indifferent to human suffering, that Western men kill with such easiness. Art is one of mechanisms to deprive them of compassion, to make them insensitive, inhuman, beast or cyborg-like. So, because Danto sanctioned this state of affairs as a major Anglo-American art critic, he is a major criminal. He is guilty in the crimes against humanity. And his fingerprints are taken – taken in blood of his innocent victims” (Irene Caesar, May 2, 2013).
