TED
http://www.ted.com In clear, nontechnical language, string theorist Brian Greene explains how our understanding of the universe has evolved from Einstein’s notions of gravity and space-time to superstring theory, where minuscule strands of energy vibrating in 11 dimensions create every particle and force in the universe. (This mind-bending theory may soon be put to the test at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva).
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate.

He is explains it with great clarity👍
It's been more then 10 years and we still can't prove string theory (´;︵;`)
I think he was talking about the hadron collider at the end of the video that discovered the god particle (Higgs Boson Particle) in 2012.
What are you listening from Chris? I’m not sure I’m on the right video. Thanks for your help
String theory is dead.
Alternate dimensions differ in their surroundings. For example; a curb color of the road might be painted GREEN in one dimension, and RED in a another dimension. Furthermore, evidence of time is observable; like discoloration of the painting, and corrosion of the cement.
How much a math and physics can become understood, yet interesting because of presenter….wow
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
I didnt know Nicholas cage took physics class😆
Space is either 3 Dimensional or it's flat. It can't be both. Make up your minds. Until then, I don't believe a word you say.
So that's why Antman (Marvel) can time travel in quantum realm, bc he is enough small. But he can't back to the past, he just can travel to another universe that is closest to him.
I didn’t know scientists were such good salesmen. But they do need to get government funding somehow. Just conclude this string theory talk with we will be able to use the extra dimension to attack China or something and It’ll probably get funded no problem
Quantum physicists are the evangelicals of this age.
My new theory is…….what is mass? Mass=space/time * vibration.
So gravity has always been seen as the curvature of space time. I say that mass is space time that is clumped together vibrations. There’s is no true space between objects but less vibration. Or still waters.
But why do they need strings to vibrate? Why don’t they vibrate themselves? Space and matter are one in the same. It’s just that space doesn’t vibrate the same. Matter is clumped space. That’s my theory.
What we must always remember is that when we find the answer to the meaningful we realize how little later we know. What makes times so special as to be one and absolute? There’s always more, let’s all work together in unity and love
so what happen? did we find the dimensions
He very much reminds me of the revival preachers that held forth in the tent at the traveling carnival that came through our town. It's like taking a drink of water from a fire hose; it keeps coming so fast there is no way to keep up and think about even one idea that he throws out. That is exactly how rubes are conned. Bottom line: If it can't be tested it's not science. It's religion.
This guy is selling hard: It's like he has been handed a pile of used Yugos and needs to move them off the lot, "Friends, for just the paltry sum of $11 down I can send you home today in this fine automobile…..". Boeing ought to grab this guy to sell the Max, if, it ever flies again. Heck, with his fervor, he could sell them even if they did not.
Oh Brian, I once got to talk to you. I asked about particles and strings, and you told me that electron and photon are not composite objects, but are individual strings.
I about melted! You don't remember that day, but i'll never forget it!
This is so interesting.
I finally, partially get, string theory…
The answer you are looking for is 42. Great talk btw 👍
Ah yes! Back when TED was about ideas and not ideology.
String Theory is Procrustean silliness.
fantastic….
No, is good,, but still No!
@11:08 and God is black/back.
Put the date of the presentation, please. The dates are very important !!
What if you realize that space is place and there is another place outside of space. Duh
He got strung up over it though
This is the clearest talk this guy ever did. Nothing later really compares.
He ain't bad. Sheldon Cooper gonna be the goat tho
Did anyone here catch the fatal flaw in space-time?! It' requires a "down-hill" in space! So a heavy planet or star warps space-time and anything orbiting it falls down into the well.
And hence, still no one knows the source of gravity, we instead chase some imaginary impossible to find dark stuff. Nope. Go back to redshift and the measurements of galactic arm speed, those measurements are fundamentally incorrect.
Just think, everything in the universe is one long string, everything connected.
Lmfao string theory was dead already by 2008. M theory had surpassed string theory. Folks why are you watching 1970s math?
why human have such a dumb ideas about space. you humans should just look at panet earth as it in a ocean of water. what goes up does not always come down when it pass the earth hemisphere and enter the ocean of space. it not going to come back down. it going to drift away just like a ship drifting in your ocean water.
??Question does it make any difference in which way the moon orbits the earth? It just seems extremely inept on someones part to overlook such a significant view.
only after death we will be able to see more than 3 dimensions …until then …
20 numbers and 10 dimensions. Hmmm… There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.
Who dislike this
He's so young! This is old but the theory still holds plus so much more.

Brian Greene is a very good lecturer. Too bad our schools don't have teachers like him.
Well… what did we find?
A very thin piece of paper has 3 dimensions. Take away the thinnest
and we do not have 2 dimensions — we have NOTHING AT ALL.
3 dimensions— exist. 2 and 1 — no exist. so there is . ONE
just ONE dimension- existing. call it "1" . and one or two dimensions call it "o" . Not existing at all. Interesting ——binary/ yes or no.
multiple dimensions is hoooooeroy
This guy gave a talk at my school in '05. It was exactly this. The physics/math majors and professors got to have dinner with him afterwards, and we pressed him for more details. He had none. Seemed a lot like a charlatan. He also received a butt load of money for his talk. Just sayin.
back when Ted Talks were more than just feminists and fat people talking about how they feel
string theory is obviously bullshit
