Michael Moore Presents: Planet of the Humans | Full Documentary | Directed by Jeff Gibbs

Michael Moore

Michael Moore presents Planet of the Humans, a documentary that dares to say what no one else will — that we are losing the battle to stop climate change on planet earth because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road — selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the reality we are afraid to face: that in the midst of a human-caused extinction event, the environmental movement’s answer is to push for techno-fixes and band-aids. It’s too little, too late.

Removed from the debate is the only thing that MIGHT save us: getting a grip on our out-of-control human presence and consumption. Why is this not THE issue? Because that would be bad for profits, bad for business. Have we environmentalists fallen for illusions, “green” illusions, that are anything but green, because we’re scared that this is the end—and we’ve pinned all our hopes on biomass, wind turbines, and electric cars?

No amount of batteries are going to save us, warns director Jeff Gibbs (lifelong environmentalist and co-producer of “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine”). This urgent, must-see movie, a full-frontal assault on our sacred cows, is guaranteed to generate anger, debate, and, hopefully, a willingness to see our survival in a new way—before it’s too late.

Featuring: Al Gore, Bill McKibben, Richard Branson, Robert F Kennedy Jr., Michael Bloomberg, Van Jones, Vinod Khosla, Koch Brothers, Vandana Shiva, General Motors, 350.org, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sierra Club, the Union of Concerned Scientists, Nature Conservancy, Elon Musk, Tesla.

  1. Thank you so much for this! Not only the environmental movement has been captured by capitalist interest, nearly the same happened to most leftist and worker-oriented parties and movements in general in the western world. It's a simple but powerful recipe: just support all the lefty identity and cultural aspects without anything related to redistribution or structural economic changes and keep telling people that the left is pushing these issues. Keep the economic and social hierarchies untouched, but put some people fitting into minority categories in some higher positions.
Cornel West talked about similar issues with regard to putting minority representants in high positions without changing structures. In Germany, the big center-right party completely drove the center-left party to the wall in the "big coalition" government with making culturally left-wing decisions such as opening borders for refugees while doing nothing against internal inequalities. Now the center-right is around 35-40% and the center-left at around 15%, yet many people keep talking about how bad these "left-dominated" politics are hurting the country.
This might be an interesting and important issue for another documentation.

  2. if its not ai or a nuclear war, a solar flare or a meteor….itll be climate change and famine. i honestly give our way of life a few decades more at best before some major from of change happens, we wont be living the "american dream " in 30 years….itll be another dream….

  3. I don't know what to say. I'm really ashamed of me, of human kind. The other species didn't deserve this. I hope we can fix this disaster, but I'm not very optimistic. The next years will be even worse, for sure.

  4. Talk is cheap and all the world does is talk and point fingers but really misses the chance to see a common concern and that being the Earth.

  5. 1:00:39 notice how it is this guy Bill McKibben, who was Mr. 350 and is connected to Sierra Club and notice how Sierra Club is connected to all this too. There is a story about how Sierra Club got taken over by radicals, and ultimately real Change and real Hope involves ignoring them and people like him, and NOT giving them the power they are currently or in the past granted as Influencers. Without going into how all this is so just know if you researched it you would find out what I'm referring to, but long story short, these are the people you DO NOT want in charge of anything, let alone policies effecting the economy. Notice how he says It Must Happen, then you see local residence balking at the idea of a garbage incinerator. It does not matter what YOU think and how YOU feel black woman or any one reading this it only matters what Bill McKibben and the controlling interests of the Sierra Club feel and their socialist ideological model of how to create their Utopian Vision of a Better New World.

So if you disagree, tough, suck it up and just know this is NOT about real actual 'democracy' but rather socialist ideology and conditioning voters to drink the Coolaid and be a true believer and supporter of those who seek to control the policies which clearly are not what they ultimately are sold to you as.

One thing though, solar and wind are not meant to be permanent solutions so that once built it is never going to need building again. You might be able to do this, but you could not use the materials they do, since they'd have to be some type of stone which, as you see with the many Megaliths are still around or some duralloy material that is not going to rust or degrade, and that might be something technologically way to expensive for mass production, or far in the future, but then the solution is material technology advancement and pouring money into that research.

  6. What is the total “birth-to-death” environmental cost of a human on the planet? Climate change is a symptom of the problem. The problem is – too many humans.

  7. Unfortunately, the part about the biomass seems to be true. BUT most of the other parts is based on outdated footage/ data (2005, 2011, …) or is highly inaccurate. Have a look at other sources that fact-check this video, here on YT.

  8. If we would really want to save earth, save nature, save animal live, save humanity itself, we have to work towards a nuclear war destroying our bigger cities (say >1000 inhabitants), not "rescuing stuff". This also will "heal" humanity in a way noone really wants to think of.

  9. If anything, this movie convinced me to continue living my wasteful western 1st world life. The alternative – even if it were available (this is one important point!) – would mean i'd have to live a miserable life with lots of shortcomings.
Since everybody does that, though not voicing it like i do now, i dont feel bad about it. The only thing that could convince me to be a better human is if i were forced by law to be one – laws that would everybody force to live a sustainable life. But that wont happen in my remaining lifetime (20-40 years if lucky)… so no i will not flagellate myself.

  10. Biomass is taken from PLANTED TREES owned by a company not from wild indigenous natural forests. There has never been so many planted or natural trees on the planet as now since the last ice age. The more CO2 there is the more trees. Burn trees and coal, for the sake of the poor in Africa and Asia. Solar power is stored in trees (biomass) and the solar energy is released when you burn them. When trees are taken down new trees are planted and in 50 years there is a new crop waiting to be harvested.

  11. We are a delusional psychotic species

    I’m a transistorized, transgenederized, transmogrified trans-human

    A corporatized, commercialized, industrial-strength consumer

A goal setting, gym sweating, debt fretting freak

A social climbing net-worker that’s always on heat

I got my education, majoring in indoctrination

Where they taught me to comply, to never question why

And so I’m chasing an illusion, of success that’s a delusion

That is sending me insane, exploding my brain

And as we teeter on the brink, soon to be extinct

I always wear a smile, coz' I'm living in denial.

  12. Population has been leveling off over the past several years. The average family in 1960 had five children. Today it's 2.5 and dropping. World population is projected to reverse by the end of the century.

  13. Al Gore rejected biofuels ten years ago. Did the film tell you that? It did not. Gore and Blood's investment firm has also won worldwide acclaim for rejecting Wall Street's "profit-at-any-cost" mentality by investing only in socially and environmentally responsible companies. Did the film tell you that? It did not. Bill McKibben also rejected biofuels years ago. Did the film tell you that? It did not.

What the film did do was to creatively edit and splice together outdated "gotcha" quotes to misrepresent everybody in the renewable energy industry.

  14. Humans disgust me with their greed just wolf's in sheep clothing. this will continue to happen. like the late great John B goodenough said "the route us humans are going we will always turn a beautiful garden into a desert"

  15. 46:54 I don’t think we’re re gonna find out a way out of this one. – Nobody’s ever asked me, if I’m scared. And I am. – We humans are poised for a fall from an unimaginable height.

  16. Peak oil is already here, humanity depends on hydrocarbons for
entire economy, our food, our short-term survival! The massive extinction of biodiversity is already here, global warming has only just begun and will at least be a partial destruction of the conditions of life on Earth. It is too late for sustainable development, global systemic collapse is inevitable. Good luck
