Hello ASL Heroes!!!
Hey, I could really use your help.
If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for https://Lifeprint.com.
Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher — just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

p.s. Want to have your very own USB drive with four semesters worth of ASL instruction (that’s the equivalent of two years of colleges classes) for just $79.95? See "SuperUSB" in the ASLUniversity bookstore at:

Take care and love to you all.

Bill, thanks again here for your office hours (I bumped the tip jar, in appreciation, FWIW).
I
Two small vocabulary queries, not so important, but because my last massive missive to you mentioned it, just a note here: the "FAMILY" w/o the "f" for sure is newish, because that's a word they/you teach in the very first class, and it was only f-initialized. No biggie. Also, on that, did I just read it wrong, or is this another one of those: I was expecting "A-L-L-lex" and I read it as "FEW.” Did I just get visually dyslexic or is it a new sign?
II
Idiomatically you can use the double negative, as in "NOT LIE NEVER,” right? It's not so different if in English; imagine a period after "lie"….
III
This is another on ASL idiom, one which I never got good at: in your example of "something, something, something, and all of a sudden it started raining," — and of course you show how there are so many ways to skin the cat for sensible communication of your meaning–what you didn't suggest is an idiom I'm sure I saw you toss off early in the lesson: something like "something, something "lh-#1 rh-S-fist bops it fast" [you gotta help my transcription skills :)]==="blah blah blah BANG RAIN.”
Does that sound right? Because unless I missed it, afterwards, in your many teaching sentences with "sudden" things (temporal and otherwise) you didn't lay that one on us _ex cathedra_.What's the story on that idiom, or am I remembering class back in the dark ages incorrectly? (FTR, the terrific program — I walked away just with a "certificate" — was LaGuardia Community College, CUNY.)
IV
Since you brought it up, surely you know the beloved hymn about Gladly the cross-eyed bear?
Best wishes
👍👍👍
I'm getting a feel for sentence structure I'm sure I'll make a fool of myself i ever spoke to a real signer but I'm trying
Really enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting.
absent minded prof….can you sign "empty" across forhead?
Wondered what that spot on your shirt was…next time you paint, use black paint and wear the same shirt. That will fix it…. oh wait, that's a blue shirt… never mind… BTW: there appears to be a spot of paint on your tie. You an use acetone to dissolve the paint binder, then let it it dry. It should then brush out fairly easily.
Suggest doing some videos on American idioms. I guess you'll cross that bridge when you get to it. 🙂
I absolutely love these videos! I have been enjoying this as a way to refresh my memory. I studied years ago in college. My professor wanted me to become an interpreter, but many factors out of my control prevented that from happening. It's such a beautiful language. Thank you Dr. Bill for sharing your world with us. God bless you. I made a small donation as a token of appreciation. If you're watching these videos then you should too!!!
Awesome lesson with great vocabulary review. I’m going to come back to this one several more times to make sure it sticks! 😃
This was really good, thank you☺
Loved this video! These types of sentences are the ones I struggle most with. When I went back to review this video, I realized that I never liked it or commented. Better late than never! Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your videos!

Please: 100 More videos like this with Rach!! Thank you so much for your videos. I am now able to converse with my neighbor, and it's so enjoyable. I have even been "thinking" in sign language….
Thank you for your efforts
Please, can you give me a list of static(without movement) words of American Sign Language?
Thank you in advance
This was Amazing. Thank you.
