Biologist Forrest Valkai has something to say about science education, evolution, creationists, and Tyrion Lannister. This is a fun one. (Sorry about the banding. LED lights not visible in the monitor on recording day.)

I spent 20 years reading the Game of Thrones books and eagerly waiting for the next one to come out every five years or so. The moment the series progressed past the last book Martin had released and into new material that should have been in the next BOOK that I and all his other fans had been waiting on for years, I stopped watching. He’s a sell-out, and I’m glad the ending sucked.
Very good.
I think I’ve been watching to many videos involving Kent Hovind: throughout this video I was thinking about the various ways he could cherry-pick and misrepresent it’s contents to twist it into “supporting” his demented worldview
These two think they're smart?
I understand Forrests passion so personally.
I'm lactose intolerant, but cheese is my favorite food.
It's not really much of an issue for me to eat cheese. It's more an issue to people around me when I eat cheese.
I avoid elevators if I've been eating cheese to not subject others to horrible farts
With the exception of astronomy, got into science after high school. (Wish I knew the math to get into the field,; have lotsa theories). Love to see a person with Forrest's exuberant enthusiasm in teaching science. Having lived and learned, it is great to hear things put in certain ways. A few times, he seemed to be quoting me as I gave science info to others. Re: mammals that help, aside from humans in a crisis, the bat even gives food to others. It became clear during an episode of Trek: Voyager that I agreed with the Capt that science IS my religion. Further, I miss good arguments where I inform or am informed of info that could sway the other. It keeps bringing up the graduation speech in the final episode of Daria. Keep firm in what you believe until or unless logic or experience proves you wrong.
Today on January 22nd, 2022 there is a news article of "Scientists Have Successfully Reversed Signs of Aging in Mice for the First Time". How did they do it? It was by restoring the youthful epigenetics of the old mice. They call this epigenetics coming from all life's epigenome a software program. What is the other huge aspect of this? Here it is below.
It is this epigenetic biological system made of methyl tags giving ADAPTATIONS in earth's creatures and us to changed environments, changed diets, or new threats. This is without any evolving DNA mutations being involved. This was found materially factual in 2014 by scientist Dr. Michael Skinner in all of observed organisms and in Darwin Finches in their beak-to-diet adaptations.
This takes out the cornerstone of the theory of evolution. These epigenetic-derived adaptations…including for bacterial antibiotic resistance…are logistically from intelligent design, not by the spinned Godless self-creation of evolution. These observed adaptations for all these decades have had ASSUMED evolving DNA mutations and were called 'microevolution'. Then effects from genome degeneration were equivocated to be the same. It was a non-sequitur. The assertions by evolutionists of genome degeneration causing evolutionary generation is laid out here as absurd comic book science.
New finches transported from the mainland onto new islands pass beak adaptation to the offspring in just two generations or seventeen years. Evolutionary 'biologist' have wrongly theorized the Darwin Finches took 2.3 million years.
The theory of evolution is the biggest scam ever foisted on humanity. The correct alternative? We are a creation by Jesus Christ beyond doubt. The theory of evolution has been beloved by the Left for its political science benefits, not for its science. It has been scientism instead.
Many of people have gone to their death beds or laying fatally injured in their crashed vehicles thinking an eternal void was awaiting them because of this theory of evolution. It gives the 'dots of the picture' of a Godless existence. To which spiritual existence of the two did these deceived people go to?
Not survival of the fittest but survival of the most adaptable.
We borrow this earth from future generations says it all. And when we are history what will be said about us?
The thumbnail for this video is really bad. I think it might significantly hurt the reach of these videos. You should look up tutorials on how to make appealing thumbnails on youtube.
Every christian I have ever had the displeasure of talking about Evolution with has demonstrated in the first minute that they do not understand what it is. I at least know the story of the bible and can give an accurate summary of the god/jesus story, why can't they go learn the basics of Evolution and the Theory of Evolution instead of parroting what someone else told them it was about?
38:00 ah, and now he's talking in my field of moral psychology!
For me it was thinking about justice and fairness. What, even if you're a murderer do you deserve to be punished for ETERNITY? I mean FOREVER? Just doesn't smack of fairness but more like social control which IMO is what religion was created for in the first place.
Is that a man or woman? I feel badly if I misgender.
That hair clickbaited me here. The flailing hands, nerdy awkward laugh and overall gender neutral personality made me uncomfortable. This 'hot nerd' bullshit has become radicalized and needs to be stomped and canceled. Who woukd give this coward the mic? Bizarre.
Dr. Oz tasting urine (about 31:15). That is indeed a traditional test for glycosuria (sugar in the urine), a symptom of some forms of diabetes (among other things). We have other lab tests for that now, but before those tests the physician would taste the patient's urine.
Doesn't mean that the rest that Oz says is right.
I could listen to Forrest for hours. Not many educators have the capacity to make learning entertaining and understandable. Hearing about how evolution and biology in general works from someone who's passionate about education instills in me a sense of wonder and awe that requires no magic nor ancient books. We need more educators like these!
Thinking atheist, that's the oxymoron of the year.
I knew who Forrest was before this video. Now I'm a fan.
