   So long as open, AI does not have a mobile hardware platform that it can control the embodiment of one of its AIS onto they are screwed by Google.

   Already open. AI demonstrates only incremental improvement in some aspects of ability when it releases new versions and then those leads last for a few weeks to months before some new model exceeds him. In fact, 01 is an outlier in how long it's remained on top of the leaderboard, but chain of thought reasoning plus reinforcement learning was invented at Google and I'm sure they're going to release some version of a model that uses it to get the same type of improvements as o1.

   As for agents, it's another word that's overhyped when we Engineers are building with machine learning models, we're building agents. It's really not that complicated. Amazon has asserted a stack of AI tools complete enough to build agents, Microsoft has a stack. Complete enough to build agents, Nvidia has a stack more than complete enough to build agents, And Google has a stack complete enough to build agents… And many corporations are currently having projects building agents agentic applications. It's not rocket science.

Ads can not be skipped and you can not get out of youtube till ads is over . You put long music video go take a bath ? You get 20 minute ads . I suspect it's a bug . Since multiple ads is what bring in money . 20 minute ads ? Did not even know it was a thing , but those long ads do not appear if you are near xbox . So xbox serie x wireless headphone connection is likely how chrome (aka edge does it)

I’d figured from the beginning that one of the most important factors would be the extent to which each AI company was able to create and evolve tools to accelerate their own internal development. That would shift R & D progress from a linear towards an exponential process. Whoever has the highest exponent wins 😁

12. Obviously they have more advanced models behind closed doors that are assisting and advancing them in everything possible. That should have been obvious to everyone from day one.

I have been using OpenAI's Chatgpt and API calls since they became available and i will say, every single thing they have is extremely overhyped, under delivered, lackluster and sub par in comparison with what is offered for free and open source. i have literally zero expectation of anything "impressive" at a minimum from OpenAI and i absolutely know better at this point than to be "blown away" by any of this bullshit hype from them. its all purely performative nonsense and hype being generated BY OPENAI to increase their valuation and funding from ignorant people with deep pockets. all of this AI is empty promises so far and its being artificially limited just like every other product that exists in our "capitalist" society. slow trickle of outdated junk to line their pockets and extract the maximum dollar per minute from your wallet. this stuff lacks basic functionality at a core level due to having no memory of things it is doing. any attempts at trying to add memory are weak and half assed and these "AI Agents" will forget what they are doing 5 minutes into any task and start fucking it up to a state of no reparability. were at least a year out or more from basic minimum viable products for anything professional grade.

20. Not to be a dick, but Sam Altman’s strategy is to build AI agents (Orion) that develop AI agents (o1) that modulate tools (anything you develop off of their API’s) we want or get to use. He is building the ultimate moat.

26. You know I am not insinuating about that exponential growth. They have fervor, and the air of difference. Keep looking at that backseat in software. It's gonna get real cozy.

27. Just this week I asked both 4o and o1 to find the output lines and add color to a Linux tool written in C. It failed, couldn't find the output lines, and kept recommending random edits that didn't achieve the goal. I ended up having to figure it out myself.

29. The overlap will just spur more open source innovation. The big companies can’t compete with the speed of open source, so they steal the best ideas to incorporate into their products… well open source indie devs take the things these companies do and duplicate that in no time using big techs best models. There is no niche safe from either side, in this struggle to win at all cost. It’s a vicious company killing business model, but it has been the driving force behind AI advancement since the early days of GPT4. And the entire agent movement is mostly driven by open source work.

    I’m ready to hit the AI niche with something good, but not before I insure it can’t be taken. You have to feel for companies like perplexity, cursor, etc. out there trying to get their piece of the pie, and just when they build a big user base, big tech hits them with competition from all sides and will give it away to stop those companies from beating them. How is a small business ever going to compete with that?
