The Meditating Philosopher
Inspired by the life of Socrates and the dictum “the unexamined life is not worth living,” Epicurean, Stoic, and Neo-Platonic philosophers offer insights and practices that may be helpful for living more fully and skillfully in the world.
This video edits and combines the original lessons created and presented by Dr. John Vervaeke during the summer and fall of 2020. These lessons and practices are based largely on the book “The Wisdom of Hypatia” by Bruce Lipton. Dr. John Vervaeke combines modern cognitive scientific principles with the cultural legacy of Socrates, Plato, and other bold thinkers of the past. They will outline and explain conceptual and theoretical aspects of wisdom and living wisely and, more importantly, ground the theoretical concepts in practices such as savoring and the view from above.
