Ben Carruth
A discussion on aspects of AI, VI, and MI, recorded in front of a BTV audience. I recorded this almost a year ago, releasing it now to set up some ideas for later elaboration.

You had me laughing out loud at least twice due to your sideline jokes.
I thought that the implications of your metaphor to God gave me a humble sensation.
What your end point was regarding the sentience of AI being different or similar to us humans, via being able to get the machines to Play like us. seems like we won't restrain AI's possibility, because i'm not certain we will be able to understand the anthropocentric 'edges' until they are well crossed in practice; machine practices. (maybe)
I really enjoy listening to your idea's and thoughts, it's a very pleasant change from the majority of crap on youtube.
I remember this being recorded about fourteen years ago, glad to finally see it's up, lol.
you like those complex words dont ya
The A.I. in RTS games is the worst software ever written. They are the most autistic opponents imaginable. Either that or they cheat. What is worse, they have not improved, even by an iota, since 1994.
@otonanoC Very little (changed since `94), which is why it's such a telling example.
I see the latter. I think that AI development, or rather the approach towards the development of better and more adaptable AI, is mostly attempts at mimicking humans. The major separation between an AI and a human mind, is that one is analog, and that other is digital. A machine cannot think in gradients, but can only simulate a gradient (both metaphorically or literally). The illusion of this gradient is strengthened by the resolution at which it can be rendered.
