Hear the Reasons
Professors Steven Pinker and Richard Dawkins brief U.S. House staff and the public in a science-theme Congressional Hill briefing, arranged by the Secular Coalition for America.
NOTE: The original sound and video quality was really terrible, and I could not quite get a satisfying result. Hope you will find it bearable, I find its at least a little better than the original upload.

The point of this channel is to take talks that I find interesting, but that have poor audio and/or video quality, and trying to improve those factors.
If you find a video here that belongs to you and want it removed, just send a message to me on this page.

I love how Pinker sits there without saying a word for the first 40 minutes.
0:16:35, they censored this video. What Dawkins said is "some people invoke a theory called Creationism." Why sensor what this great man has to say?
This was and is a very valuable discussion. I would make only one suggestion for future events. Please check out the sound/audio system beforehand, so that the YouTube viewers can hear without straining.
THIS . . .is IMPROVED sound?
Steven Pinker! I love you! 🙂
"There could be as few as one billion planets with life in the universe"
Can't remember the authors name but in middle-school I read a book called A Canticle for Leibowitz, the plot being after total destruction the earth's scant survivors create a fascist belief system around discovered holy ancient writings that turn out to be 20th century accounting records.
I am currently digging a hole in my back yard with this incredible video chronicle on 2.0 USB and pressed into a can of coffee, I just hope they can boil water.
‘To the best that we can we should make our beliefs correspond to the truth. It sounds like embracing motherhood, but it really isn't because so many of our beliefs are identity badges showing that we belong to the right coalition [we should] be prepared to have our minds be changed by evidence, to be forced to justify our beliefs, be able to criticize other peoples beliefs, be forced to defend our own. That is where I think hope for humanity lies.’ – Steven Pinker
Hold up Dr. D – you tellin' me that dinosaurs wore shoes?!
I thought Dr Pinker would never speak heh! 🙂
