1. It's quippy but leaves out a lot of important nuance. One of the most important is that modern medicine has always recognized the obvious and demonstrable efficacy of medicine from plants, but also modern methods of extracting and isolating and measuring those ingredients leads to more consistent dosage, more pure ingredients, etc.

   Applying modern methods to "natural" medicine is vastly superior to "eat this root".

   Also, the use of "natural" as a criteria to decide what is good or bad in medicine is a logical fallacy. Dog shit is organic, arsenic is all-natural, and by the way, water is a chemical. "Artificial" is a chemically meaningless distinction, its only value is as a marketing buzzword.

3. The root may not be the best choice, but beat the hell out of prayer. Christianity pushed human development back in ways we can’t fathom. While Islam in the middles ages was developing science open discourse and reasonable religious tolerance, European was burning witches, murdering or excommunicating the minds of that period. Now, Islam is doing that and worse, given the knowledge we now have. And the Catholic Church has more culpability in setting us back with their insistence that Jews, all Jews, were responsible for the death of Christ. A big influence in the holocaust and those killed had among them scientists, musicians, philosophers whose contributions we will never know. Add to that the role of the church in imperialism, leading to the First World War, we still haven’t recovered from that loss. Where would we be if those years, those lives, that financial abundance was put to positive use? Christendom was disastrous to the human race. As is Islam now.
