Slowed Down time lapse Still Life Pastel painting demo of a Pear

ria hills

As requested, I slowed down my “Pear and a Brick” pastel painting demonstration along with notes. I hope you enjoy it! By watching this time lapse demo of a still life pear painting you’ll see how I approach the subject with soft pastels.

  1. What I learnt in my journey with pastels and watercolour is that

    Superior paper >>>> superior materials

Spend all your budget on paper, it's ok if you got just mungyo, no need sennelier or some other tier 1 brand as long as you got good paper.

  2. Nice video . Good to watch as I m Starting with pastels , have a question though, on shadows how do u know where to add shadows do you refer any image of it gets with practice ?

  3. Gracias!

  4. This is so very good and is encouraging me to start pastels and not just look at them in a box! 🙂 I thank you and have subscribed!

  5. I love this. But if I had to critique it I'd have to say the highlight on the lower left in my opinion should not be white but maybe a bright cool grey or green even. The brick doesn't look like a brick. Looks more like a sponge. Bricks are not concave at the edges, just doesn't look right. Otherwise I love this painting. Again, just my personal perspective.
