It’s beautiful just stunning. I love the Moon Lords outfit episode 10.
How funny that this popped up in my feed since I'm now watching A Dream Within a Dream. I actually remember Li Yitong for her guest role here as Orchid's master because I thought she was funny. 😅❤ I did really enjoy Love Between Fairy and Devil.
can you not just assume that only long time viewers or that even they watch every single video? Just where do I find this other drama that you fell in love with and it steadily climbed?? FP gosh.
the FL voice hurt my ears. I literally had to take out my airpods.
The body swap sections were impressive. It made me less tolerant of her cutesie squeakiness though.
Best drama out there, for all time!!!!
I loved this drama, it was beautiful & Dylan Wang is amazing 🥰
As for the story being similar to others, well I guess as the old saying goes, “There is nothing new under the sun”. It’s impossible to keep coming up with completely new story lines forever
Also the bit near the beginning where they swap bodies & I get to see Dylan Wang having a girlie hissy fit is one of my most rewatched moments.
i think this drama is testament to how a stereotypical story and setup can be executed spectacularly if the right amount of effort, time and money is put in. this was my first xianxia drama, and even to me these tropes are very familiar, but simply due to the execution it was so enjoyable, fun and exciting to watch. loved it.
I was hooked line and sinker for Cdramas after LBFAD
Xian Xia for me can get pretty stupid pretty fast, and this was one drama that I couldn't get past episode one. I started to watch because Li Yitong is one of my favorites but even that couldn't retain my attention.
I've tried to get into this drama so many times because everyone loves it and says its amazing. But I just cannot stand the female lead's voice. The baby voice, the whining, crying, and whimpering with every breath was so distracting I couldn't focus on anything else. I know the voice fits the character's backstory (she's a very young flower spirit), but my god. It's like nails on a chalkboard. It's so annoying because I know it's the only thing keeping me from getting into this drama.
Sorry but can someone tell me where that scene where DFQC becomes very big with XLH on his hand? The version I watched didn't have this scene?
very stupid story, poorly filmed, with bad scenery and bad acting)
If you like good stories, don't watch it.
I can’t understand what to praise here.
This is my favorite CDrama ever, hands down. Dongfang Qingcang is my dream man, lol. Im in love with Dylan Wang now.
I hated the ending, though. There needs to be a S2.
Agreed with you up until the 2nd ml and his friend as a couple. Uh no that would have been the worst. What are you even talking about smh
ah this was my first c-drama and I felt in love with it and as it is my first love I won't get over it 😊
meu primeiro xianxia. incrível! gostei de tudo, principalmente da atuação do hedi. incrível de verdade, amo esse dorama
This was my first Cdrama in 2023, the painting and giant rendering were sooo iconic.
I don't watch much drama but gave in to this one after people kept raving about it. Needless to say, I'm in love with this drama. Would love recommendations on movies that are similar to this.
I’m shocked that you would enjoy this one… but dislike the long ballad. You were quite harsh with Wu Lei’s acting but you seem ok with Hedi’s acting. Shocked.
Thank you for leading me to this show! You are exactly on point with all of your reviews, I really appreciate what you do! This was the same story different show BUT the visual details, character development, great casting and the fact it doesn't "insult us intellectually" lol made it such a delightful and addictive show.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for all that you do!
Nice. Can you do Till The End of The Moon?
When you watch for a drama, watch for its director and screenwriter, not just the main actor. Good director can shape the bad actor to be good.
I noticed Dylan a lot more in this drama. His expressions were on point. He looked beyond beautiful as Dongfang Qingqang.
This is one of the best Chinese fantasy drama series i have seen, it has everything from comedy to romance and visually it is amazing.
The chemistry between these 2 main leads are outstanding.
Xu Haiqiao is possible one of the best looking actors i have seen and the makeup and costume designers doing the work to make him look this good, are phenomenal.
His beauty in this series is just unreal.
I sincerely loved the writing and acting in this drama and I'm looking for something that can compare in those ways. I miss this series and have already rewatched it and will again, but I don't find many dramas that I am this drawn to (haven't been pulled in as much since like Eternal Love and I still think this was miles better). I would happily take any recommendations.
Too bad i cannot get past Esther's voice and acting. She baby talks. So annoying. I turn off the tv after the first episode.
I came back here looking to watch this one after Blood of Youth. I hope is worth my time lol My 12 year old did not like it but she likes modern Korean drama that I wish she would not be watching. At least censoring Chinese works to keep pre teens from watching what they should not.
Still at the middle part of watching it (because I'm slow and because I don't have that much time anymore), but out of all last year's dramas Esther was in, this is my favourite and it made me appreciate how much it challenged her and Dylan. It is a true fun watch, and they both carried the roles perfectly.
Thanks for your recommendations. I finished the drama and I loved it it
This drama is one of the best.
Your reviews are gold for me! Thanks
lady your so wrong best drama and best lead Male actor
I really love how layered and complex the characters were. I loved seeing the lighter side of the moon tribe and the darker side of the heavenly realm. They did a great job of portraying both the selfishness and nobility which can arise from suffering, and how that is a part of the human condition. Thus, further illustrating the idiocy of war, as there is much more that we have in common. I found the character development of the male lead to be very realistic. He was tortured soul who wasn't quite as evil as portrayed initially given his father's assisted suicide and his emotions being cut off, yet he was still enough of a bad guy to be a decent anti-hero. Even when he changed, he still had a dark brooding intensity. I was expecting his character to break at some point, or his character to end up being way too cheery and rule abiding, but it stayed believable. The actor did a great job conveying complex emotions as well as subtle shifts in his character. I also think the FL had a decent range. This show was so on point, with many great lessons to share.
I’m not mad about the dubbing. I’ve heard Dylan Wangs voice and I’m afraid that it just didn’t match up with his character. The gentleman that dubbed made their character. Just my humble opinion.
Wang Hedi did a good job, but i feel like ppl dont give enough props for Yu Shuxin. She did a really good job acting very serious in those bodyswapped scenes. And she does her own voice-ing for the drama too.
Wow, AvenueX, you are so pretty in this video! 😍
The headpiece & the dress suit you.
The female lead of this drama is so cute! 😍
The costumes and accessories are so beautiful.
A friend actually recommended the drama to me I wasn't even into C-dramas at all, like I've never seen any C-dramas except kdramas. I was really reluctant to watch it but my friend kept asking me if I'd starting watching it, I decided to just watch like an episode and drop a believable comment for her to make her believe I've watched the drama lmao🤣, by the time I finished episode 1 I got hooked. now I've started watching C-dramas because of LBFAD. And I absolutely love Dylan and Esther's chemistry so refreshing. I had to watch Dylan's previous dramas and seen how much he has improved as an actor.
I've been into k dramas and J dramas for years and years but could never get into many c dramas because of the length. (One C drama I was interested in had 100 episodes, yes 100! I never finished it) So I kind of gave up on C dramas completely (it has been about 10 years).
Then recently I saw "Love of fairy and devil" on Netflix and it peaked my interest about c dramas again, especially because it was a fantasy and so short compared to other Chinese fantasys (36 ep).
So I decided to give it a chance…
Soooo happy I did! The drama is amazing! The acting isn't cringey or overdone, and the cgi is great too! The story and characters sell the drama 100%. The only downside I'd say is that the story does lag a bit in the middle, but what story doesn't.
Anyways, I highly highly reccomend this drama, it's really good.
I agree that Dylan looks so different. He looks soooo handsome here I couldn’t recognize him at first lmao
I fell inlove with dylan wang!
I 💯 agree to your comment about Dylan Wang’s acting in this drama. I am beyond surprised! I felt like he’s improved a lot with his acting and it’s really entertaining to watch! ❤😊
Having seen your video I've decided to have hope in this xianxia drama and it's exceeded beyond my expectations in just 5 ep (I'm halfway through now). Dylan Wang's range of emotions and expressions had me completely speechless. I couldn't believe how his raw portrayal of his character made me feel (have to emphasize ep 18 because oh my god). I've not seen Meteor Garden, but the difference in complexity of F4 vs the Moon Lord is clearly immense. He's very, very good.
The chemistry is exploding between him and Esther Yu. The drama checklists pretty much everything there is to look for in a drama and it doesn't fall short of anything. OST, plot, emotions, character, setting, set designs, and the clothes have you swooned. Moreover, no pointless fillers and every part of the dialogue and expression has a purpose to build the plot! Love Between gives me hope for xianxia dramas, thank you AvenueX.
I have watched many many dramas… This one has by far exceeded my expectations! The visuals, storyline and acting were perfectly synchronized in my opinion. When they switched bodies his facial expressions and actions were believable. The expression on his eyes said a lot. He had quite the emotional range going on…in the beginning he wasn't supposed to have emotions but you could still see a glimmer of interest in her. After I rewatched it I could tell the difference between his desire to break the bond and his desire to keep it. Since he doesn't have emotions, deep down I think he wanted a connection someone. I'm sure he had a soft spot for her because she did save him. I also thought it was curious that he did not immediately tell her who he was. He liked the natural way she treated him and knew she would be afraid if she knew the truth. It was as if he wanted to keep his fantasy life with her going.
Her character was overly cute and harmless looking. Which I felt was a great contrast to his character. Had she been physically strong.. I wouldn't have worried she was in peril every time she was abducted or hurt. She had to be frail and innocent to get the viewer to be afraid for her safety.
His fighting scenes were epic. The flash of blue eyes and flames. Powerful yet carefully controlled around her physically as he's fighting. Visually amazing. I also enjoyed the scenes where she saved him even though it meant her sacrificing her only ticket home. The body swap kiss in the woods followed by him grabbing her neck to go in for a second kiss in front of her crush. Omggg!! I felt for the love triangle. You could see that they both loved her. However only one was able to put everything on the line for her. Also to care for her at the very end so she can come back. You could tell which man truly loved her.
When I watched it the first time I thought he only protected her because he was also protecting himself. But if that was truly his wish he would never have let her go anywhere by herself specifically the trials. I think he would have locked her up immediately until he figured out a way to break the curse.
I also appreciate how she did not give up her first love and former home right away. That was another conflict that was interesting to see play out. We got to see his tyrant side come out. when he locked her up and asked that the sword be remade. I wasn't sure if I was going to like him after that LOL. When she tricked him with a body swapping kiss I was laughing so hard. I didn't think she had it in her. The show just got better and better. The likelihood of a sequel is probably slim to none. I would enjoy it so much. There would have to be some kind of situation where they go back in time and have to redo things? There's likely no hope but a girl can dream!
The body swap was so good!! The impersonation acting of the opposite character was so good!!
Loved your analysis! I felt the same. I finished this show today. I don’t watch a lot of tv because if the show is too good, I get so depressed when it’s over. Needless to say, I’m extremely sad today lol.
I thought I'm the only one who was thinking Chang Heng and Rong Hao as couple lol 10:40
I love this review, dahling! 💖
