  1. I will trust you that these are actually useful when I see one beat-up and dirty. in all these commercials the robot always look pristine, new and never used.

  2. S'all good, Spot takes the measurements so the hooman can actually do data analysis, wait that's gonna be done by AI too. They'll probably fire 90% of those people.

  3. As much as robots are cool and all, just giving a human a smart device with notifications and a tracker is far simpler. Just have an efficient AI guide the little fleshy pawns. Welcome to the hyper efficient workforce of the future. No more 10 minute bathroom breaks scrolling tiktok.

  4. Be curious to know how they monitor vibration with this? I walk route in plants collecting data and whilst I some day wish something like this can do that part of my job, I fail to see how its able to do it. Thermal and ultrasound are easy as its non contact.

  5. Haha even at this level they don't give the maintenance guys the chance to actually fix stuff. Spot is not going to fix the "let it break" attitudes towards reliability engineering.

  6. One thing for sure robots have advantage over humans they can reach chemically unstable environment, where the human consumption can't handle.

  7. Why not just have sensors located in the places you need to check instead of having a robot or a person walking around all the time checking things?
