SXSW
Harvard Psychology Professor and New York Times bestselling author Steven Pinker claims marrying hard data to a keen understanding of the human mind makes people safer, freer, healthier, wealthier, and happier now than at any previous time in history, not just in the West, but worldwide. More importantly, he lays out the reasons for how this progress happened and how we should continue it. ENLIGHTENMENT NOW: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress is an elegant assessment of the human condition in the third millennium and a passionate defense of values that people take for granted.

About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.

Can't wait to watch this, but I'll have to save it for later 🙂
Ashley Schaeffer got a perm.
Thanks for sharing! Great quality and production, and keeping the Q&A session was a lovely thing, Pinker's always a solid speaker who can address questions with clarity and wit.
Everything is getting better. Trust me.
.Just don't ask for a better wage or an end to usury.
Predicadores de la igualdad.
humman life quality sure has been trending in the right direction for some time, but there has to be an eviromental peak to what nature can susstain i feel.
that was a question btw ,just forgot the question mark
Science and humanism are important for prolonging human progress but almost as essential is historical context and a sense of how far we have come already. Who had electricity or clean, running water, central heating, air conditioning, effective medical care, etc. one hundred years ago? John D. Rockefeller and a few others. Let's build on what we already have and make sure the benefits of technological advances are dispersed to more and more people worldwide.
Pinker you are a damn lier in regards to your "piece" on enlightenment and income inequality.🤯
