Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a powerful and flexible tool that can be used to track and manage phenomena of importance including; natural resources, land use, transport, human settlement, disasters, weather and climate.
When used in conjunction with Earth Observation (EO), historic and real-time data can be used to manage and monitor change within environments to better inform and manage responses.
UKZN has developed a new programme in this rapidly-growing field of science: Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems and Earth Observation (BSc GIS-EO).

Dear Prof. Is this Degree South African Geomagnetic Council accredited/recognized (meaning you just submit your degree and transcript and you get registered), or a graduate still need to go through evaluation and examinations as done to UKZN GIS graduates wanting to register as GIS Technicians etc? Thanks.
